So I'm making this thread because I'm fairly certain this doesn't exist. If it does, great, comment the link, because it comes in handy when listing off items you shouldn't waste resources building. Disabled for all: Beacon Cactus (Still able to use for dyes) Command Block Dropper Enchanting Tables (Decoration Only) End Portal (exists, but will not activate) Haste Potion Hopper Item Frame Piston Sticky Piston Allowed only with certain Donation Features Anvil - Extended Commands Plus Dispenser - Only with Pyro or Water Lava bucket, Flint/Steel, Fire Charge, Fire Works - Only with Pyro Ice, Sponge, Water bucket - Only with Water Potion of Invisibility - Investigator Allowed in Certain Worlds Horse Egg - Rising / Legacy only (obtainable from Voting) Villager Egg - Mining World only (obtainable outside Mining World Portal) TnT - Nether only (requires Nether access) The items that are disabled for all are disabled for a reason, this is because of automatic farms and/or lag. is there any rules about enderpearls? not seen any around, guess this is coz you cant access the end? but enderchests are available thats why i was wondering!
Well, I'm not 100% sure on that one. I know the End is disabled, but I'm not sure if you can still put the pearls in the portal or not. The portal does exist, but it will never activate. Is anyone able to answer this?
Item frames used to be allowed not too long ago, why were they disabled? Also why are hoppers disabled, they don't really seem to have much affect on auto farming.
@steveshizzle im guessing all the above items are disabled due to lag issues, if everyone on the server was running auto farms with hoppers and pistons then the server wouldnt be able to cope, i could be wrong though!
I don't understand the affect of being able to auto farm with hoppers though if pistons and such are disabled as well. I've created several auto farms on singleplayer, which include hoppers in the design, however without pistons, the auto-farm, as well as the remaining design aspects including the hoppers, is essentially useless. Therefore, if one wants to disallow auto farming, simply disable pistons.
@steveshizzle Item frames are disabled, as far as I know, because they are an entity, and they cause insane lag when used in mass amounts. Imagine the old market, just in your house. I'm not 100% sure why hoppers are disabled as I've never actually seen one in use. But I know if you have the floor made of them and try to have a chicken farm, it will automatically pick up the eggs. @lowndsy2011 Ender pearls are able to be used to find the Stronghold, but can not activate the portal. Also to make an Ender Chest it requires an Eye of Ender, not an Ender Pearl. Hope this helps! I'll add this to the original post as soon as I know how to word it.
I would like to add, -Beacons would indeed cause lag, but thats not why they were removed. Removed due to their effects (Especially Haste) On the haste topic, You should add haste potions to the disallowed items. -Droppers were disabled due to duplication problems (I think)
I too am curious about not being able to use enchantment tables, but my main question: are farms with docile mobs not allowed (like cows, pigs, chickens & sheep? If they are not allowed, then where do people get things like colored wool for their shops to sell besides the main color shop? Oh and I guess that reminds me of my last related question.... what good are horse eggs if horses aren't allowed or are they just allowed in certain places? Thanks from a relative newbie!
You are allowed to farm animals, but know that there is an auto butcher that kills all mobs of any kind, including animals. So no, they are not illegal but that aren't very effective. Also note that mobs are only found in the Mining world. You can get colored wool from the color shop, or from the few sheep you find around in the mining world. Also you can make wool from 4 string if you want it that badly. Horse eggs are a rare prize from Voting that allows you to spawn a horse. Horses will only spawn in rising and legacy, and will not go through portals. Hope this helps @Kalanbel
@Inamine Thanks Inamine! It's good to know you can make wool from string here. I didn't realize that. I don't know anything about auto butcher... but from what you've said, the mining world is the only place that doesn't have this, right? Does autobutcher kill mobs right as they spawn or is it on some kind of timer? Oh, and does it kill horses?
Auto Butcher, as I understand it, is only in Mining World. When there is a mining world restart an abundance of mobs, from cows to creepers, all the mobs, are spawned. Then slowly they are killed off and the spawn rate drops. This means that without spawners mobs will spawn at a much slower rate. The only spawners you can find are skeleton, zombie, spider, cave spider, and I do believe there is 1 silverfish spawner in the strong hold. Auto butcher is timed to kill mobs in the mining world only, meaning it won't affect your horses at all, as they are in rising or legacy. It clears all the mobs from a certain area every so often. This is to keep entity /lag levels down, as well as making mob drops a little more rare. Does this make sense @Kalanbel ?
