So the last few times I've been in-game, the topic of anime recommendations came up, only problem was that I was a little too busy to give the topic much of an answer.

As any good geek should, I'm a fan of Fantasy and Scifi. While that covers most mediums, tv, movies, radio, books, etc, I'm going to limit this thread to just English spoken TV and TV Anime.

    So the thread format:

First post your 'top list', this should be 10 shows you think are awesome (doesn't need to be your top 10 of all time, just a good selection), this is so we can judge your taste.

A link to any tv scrobbling sites you might use (followmytv/myanimelist etc)

Follow this list up with a paragraph on why you would recommend a show for us to watch, this can be already listed in your top list, or maybe something aired in the last few seasons.

Remember, no movies, no books, keep to TV shows which are English, or have English subtitles.

    Shangri-La
This show is set in the 'not so distant' future, where global warming has managed to disrupt normal life. In an effort to control the collaps of the environment, each country has to pay a carbon tax when trading with other countries. One effort to control the amount of carbon dioxide in Japan is the creation of a self contained city in which most of the local population moved. The problem with this is the private nature of the city, and the rules saying who can or cannot join the city. This show has a weird mix of main stream anime tactics with a bit of social commentary chucked in. If you are looking for a cast of pretty girls, running round attempting to save their little world, then you can have that too. Just don't forget to notice the secondary stories about the hackers playing with stocks, collapsing entire countries economies when you are looking at the eye-candy.

    Angel Beats!
Once a year an anime is born that just so perfectly plays with emotions, I can't help but call it terrific, if only by the amount of tears flowing down my face. My favourite examples of this have to be 'Kanon (2006)', Ef (2007), 'Clannad (2008)'. My nomination for 2010 would have to be Angel Beats.

Fine, but don't expect a paragraph of text.

    Speed Grapher
This one's very under-appreciated, it's a good anime that was rather difficult to find good online streams of.
    Darker than Black
A good, serious and dark anime.
    Inferno Cop
A.. I don't know what this is. It's an anime.. technically.. it's ridiculous and you can't stop watching it. (it's also only about 40-50 minutes to watch the whole season)
    Gintama
A comedy anime, one of the few that has me crying from laughter all too often. Has about 260 episodes. So there's plenty of episodes to watch.
    Mushishi
A very unique kind of anime. It features a different story every episode and it is quite fun to watch.

^ The girl from the picture is from the anime Black Rock Shooter, incase anybody was wondering.

    Recommendation

Nichijou/Lucky Star: Both of these animes are extremely funny and are one of the best comedy animes I have ever seen. Nichijou is straight up comedy after comedy with more violent comedy than anything. Lucky Stay is more of a comedy for all ages, but can still hit you with a little bit of the feels. Except that once those feels hit you they go straight back into comedy in the best way possible.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: One of my all time favorite animes I have ever seen. When I first started getting big into animes I started with this show back in 2012 and I instantly loved it. The fact that it was one of my first true animes (not counting all the animes that aired on cartoon network as a kid like dbz and pokemon) might be the sole reason why I love it so much. This show gives the audience everything that they want, from giant mechas battling it out, to eyecandy on almost every episode. The show manages to throw feels at you even when you less expect it, and they still hit me even after i've seen the show 8 times. 10/10 would watch again.

Rosario to Vampire: Eye candy, Eye candy, Eye candy, Eye candy, oh and did i forget Eye candy? This show is literally Eye candy for the whole first season before they start making the plot so amazing that you forget about the eye candy (until the Eye candy hits in again).

One Piece: I recommend and don't recommend this show at the same time. I don't recommend this show because of the fact there is 650 episodes as of now, with plenty of movies/specials/ovas to watch as well. You will need lots of time and patience to be able to watch this show and catch up to where it is now (the episodes are still coming out). This show is a simple shonen fighting anime just like all the others out there, but its just....different. One of the first animes I have ever seen ,up to this date, that uses pirates as its main plot focus and revolves around pirates. The show is about pirates and the myths and legends about pirates. The show plot is actually based off an old real life pirate, that before he died he gave out a encrypted map to his buried treasure (that to this day nobody has found. The show plot is about a pirate, that before he died he said he left everything in one place which than started the "great pirate era". I could talk hours about this show but in the end its really down to whether or not you have the time to sit through it all.

@phoenixproject15 His lists might be slightly similar to mine since we watch almost the exact same shows, and tagging him for the fact his myanimelist profile is amazing.
