Minecraft Name: zr2002 Suggestion: To give some sort of harsher punishment or something to keep irrelevant posts off of threads in complaints section. Possibly limit people who post on threads if that is even possible. (Only people who can post are mods, person who posted complaint, and the user who is the felon, or if someone in game gives a good reason to post to a mod, they can also add them) Reason: I've probably clicked the 'Report' button in the complaints section 20 times in only the last week. It gets kind of annoying that people can't stay off of that forum. Also would prevent a lot of mini-modding. Other Information: I believe it was @Mission001 in a complaint who had wanted something done about this also. Link to this plugin: Forums. (Feel free to post what you think should be done about this )
This has been requested so many times but I am thankful you took the time to submit once again as sometimes it does get staff to tighten up on the rules again - at least for a short time There is a system in place - supposedly - which obviously does work perfectly. The trolls know this system perfectly and continue to abuse every loophole that can be found to continue to post over and over again - and get by with it of course. I understand a new member or a member that has never posted before getting a single warning, however, the constant abuse should be dealt with - these experienced players know better and should just get a formal warning and then a temp ban as this will be the only way the trolls will stop this madness. I also tire of seeing over and over again that "any further posts will be warned" and would prefer to see them warned and then temp banned.
I completely agree with you. The trolls in the complaints section should recieve an automatic forum temp-ban, instead of just a warning.
I completely agree. My opinion has always been that the only persons that should be posting on any thread in the appeal/complaints section are the original poster, staff, anyone staff has directly asked to make comment, or anyone that is providing specific evidence for the situation (video/screenshots). When I was last on the staff team I issued forum warnings for any posts I found not to follow those guidelines... and was the demoted for 'abusing forum warnings'. Since then there have been more irrelevant posts, and posters, and more posts from staff warning people not to post or they will get the warning point.
Well said, @AdmiralD. Irrelevant posts should simply be warned, and then deleted. No "please do not make any irrelevant posts" or anything. People know the rules, and they should be expected to follow them. These "guidelines" seem almost laughable when they are not enforced.
+1 If you are not sure if your post is relevant, pm a moderator, thats what they are there for. If it isn't relevant, your post should be warned and deleted. People who post on complaints and appeals wanting to share their opinion to the community should be warned and hopefully banned if continued to do so. I know you want to share with us your opinion, but honestly, it has nothing to do with you so i couldn't care less what your opinion is on the matter. We have been told not to deleted posts unless its literally the last resort, which I dont understand why exactly, but people should be treated more harshly. You dont get someone who has nothing to do with a theft crime walk into a court room and give their opinion on the case, pretty sure you'd be throw out almost instantly. tl:dr #RIPTrollsInComplaints2k15
+1 Personally I don't see why they can't do it like how they set up the LWCs. Clearly people can't follow rules here and even when warns are given out people don't care as they know their limit and take a hit to speak their opinion. So why not just make it so they can't? I don't see the problem really, not when it comes to a ban appeal because even if it's set up like the LWCs are, the person who posted the appeal still has the ability to post in that topic. I can see a slight problem with doing complaints that way though as the accused wouldn't be able to come in and defend themselves, however... If the evidence is there and it's clear the person broke the rule, what could they possibly say to get out of being punished? If things need to be talked about then why can't the mod go that extra step and PM the accused asking for their side? None of this HAS to be public, staff complaints aren't. o.o And +1 to @KMaxwell I still think you handled that situation right. I will say that because of what happened, it caused me to fear demotion every time I punished a member for doing something wrong. @Riggs316 It seems so simple, I know, but it isn't. Phys has made it clear that staff are not allowed to delete posts unless it's absolutely necessary... which makes no sense to me as mods can only soft delete posts and the whole staff team can still see them, but whatever. Good luck @zr2002!
Even without being able to delete posts unless necessary, there should be no fear for a moderator to enforce the rules. It's what they are there for. It'd be like a police officer fearing for his job every time he wrote a speeding ticket. Completely ridiculous.
Ok I just spent 15 minutes looking for a post by kmax that looked like abuse and this is the closest I could find... "On the contrary, we are trying our best to assist in mediating a resolution between two users. Just because we haven't waved a magic wand and fixed everything with no effort by anyone required doesn't mean we aren't doing anything. Please kindly refrain from commenting further on this complaint." but if this = demotion you might as well demote Jamie for saying "Please let staff handle this. Thank you for trying to help." we should go back on topic, sorry
@Dccciz http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/user-complaint-legocar5.124221/ This guy called Logan a prick and then once he filed a complaint on him, said "Y u so stuck up". Some people misread what Lego said and thought the guy was just defending himself by recapping what was said, but actually the guy further harassing Logan for filing the complaint on him by taking yet another stab at him and asking why he's so stuck up. Maybe Lego was just joking then too? Whatever, I think Kmax made the right call. But let's use this as an example here! If things were set up like LWCs are, then Lego wouldn't have been able to come in and further insult Logan and a warning wouldn't have been needed at all.
The downside to it is that nobody can actually see anything about current complaints, this prevents further evidence from being posted and it prevents people from seeing a complaint on a scammer for example, who might scam more people in the meantime. Although, if it's possible, then every comment on a thread in that section should require moderator approval before becoming visible.
+1 Wading through the "irrelevant posts" to find what actually happened gets tiring. However, I have found that by adding certain members to my Ignore List shrinks most complaints down to 2-4 posts... unless the person being complained about is on my list. Then I have to click the small print "show ignored content" to reinforce why they're on my List in the first place
KMax, it is truly a shame that a moderator would be demoted for enforcing the rules - but it does explain why the ban/complaint section is so out of hand now. I have seen some threads have 20 or 30 comments (with 4 or 5 warnings that there will be warnings - not actual warnings) I am sure the server owner has her reasons for allowing this, however, if it is to be this way would it not be better to remove the rules completely and let it be a free for all for everyone? It does seem rather unfair that only a few get an "official" warning and everyone else seems to get the "I am warning you that you are going to get a warning"
+1 All irrelevant posts will be hopefully either deleted (with no warning) or reported so there will be no unnecessary arguments going on and others making the users steer away from the relevant informations.
