Minecraft Name: Dccciz Suggestion: URL Signs Reason: They could be useful for spawnshops/ maybe have a wall at spawn for URLs. Any Other Information: Link To This Plugin: I'm on my phone I'll be home in 15 minutes
This was already discussed http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/suggestion-hyperlink-signs.55389/ I like the idea but it is ripe for abuse by unscrupulous individuals sending the clicker to unsavory or unsafe links -1
Although Dork1877 has a good point, I would actually say that as long as we made rules for the uses. ie: You can only attach links to the ECC forum. I think it could be used in fun creative ways. For example, some of the top floor spawnshops could sell advertising space for player's threads.
i don't know the technical limitations/capabilities of something like this but it certainly wouldnt work unless the plugin was specifically set to only allow links to certain domains. Because an approval process wouldn't work/be tedious and there would be nothing to stop people from changing a sign once it was approved. There would also exist the possibility of the sign labeling being different than the actual link, thus introducing more security issues. I can think of a lot of ways for this to be very dangerous unless its done right
Yes, but Dork, we have made it illegal for example to put curse words on a sign. If you are found to have done that you could be banned and we require the sign be taken down. Therefore, we could simply make it, if someone finds a link that goes somewhere besides ECC, you will be banned and the sign removed.
That is a very good point. Hmm... I wonder if there would be a way to force it to only allow URLs from ecocitycraft.com
Sounds awesome, but since technical issues aren't my area of know-how, it might not be possible. Otherwise, if possible, I agree.
I'm sure you could open the plugin up and do some custom coding.... It would be very useful at spawn when new builders come one -dpatt888
