This idea is not going to make kits useless....there is just a 1/8th chance that the match will be kit-less. For some people they may hardly ever even experience a kit free match, and if people are really that butt hurt they can just leave to another match. Personally in my opinion people who cannot adapt or have humility when faced with things that don't make them comfortable then they shouldn't be even recognized as a voice of reason. I have no kits, but that does not mean I bash on kit users all day for having them, I just adjust and still enjoy myself even if I do not always win or get killed by a kit user. This would not be the end of the world for you kit users and stop acting like it will. I do agree with kuke and sky that we should implement a trial period on this and not just make it official right away as a way to compensate for all the crying about it. Then if it is successful it can be officially implemented, if not then we can move on and try another idea like a rotating kit-less map that people can see where the kit less map will be etc. -
I believe that the idea that some of the maps aren't kits, is kinda flawed and pointless. I think if they added quite a few no kit maps, It would still be fun, but I think that nobody will ever go on the kit maps anymore. Making kit maps pointless.

Again you are making assumptions about people, I would go on both just being honest. I find taking on kit users fun and challenging, but I also find taking on my fellow non-kit peers fun. People need to stop just making assumptions and wait and see and try before doing so. Then and only then can a rational and logical discussion be made.-

I think this is a great idea because I know that it is not uncommon for builders to go in SG their first day and immeditately accuse people of hacking due to kits. When they find out that its a kit and is allowed and pretty much inevitable in any SG on ECC they are discouraged and leave the server. I think allowing a 1/8th change of a non-kit sg would help keep the new users on ECC.
-
I disagree partialy. The flaw to the system (at least for me) is that It's hilariously fun one or two shotting builders in sg, and it sucks when you don't have kits and are fighting a buffer.
-
And this is the mentality of most people in SG today...
Would you like to find out who can fight without kits? Would you like to see how many kills you can get without kits? I know many builders would stick around for this, and hey, we may see a better retention rate.
This isn't an attack on anyone, just stating a fact and proposing questions. -

It is a great idea
Im sure there are many people that go to play SG once in a while, and every game they play gets cut short by an invisible sword wielding kit user. a few days ago this happened consistently to me. It was such a pain. -

Is there a way to lock an SG arena (or duplicate one) so that only non kit users can use them?
-
I personally don't see this as the best answer to solving the issue of kits. I think that the better way is to try to balance kits more, through ideas such as those suggested by KH to tweak buffer.
The reason I am against this is that I spend a lot of my time playing off-peak. During these hours there are often only a handful of players who actually play SG. If you add a non-kit arena, this will divide the already low number of players between types of arenas. This will drastically reduce the effectiveness/usefulness of my kits.
For the record, I actually do think kits need to be slightly nerfed. This however, would render my kits near pointless at times if a proportion of a small number of players only plays 1 arena. I appreciate that this may not be the case for on-peak SG'ers where the player count is much higher, but for me personally, I believe it would have a significant effect of the usefulness of the hundreds of dollars of kits that I own.
EDIT: I would like to make it clear that this post was responding to a set non-kit arena. I also disagree that a random 1/8th chance arena is a bad idea. It doesn't solve the problem. If we decide that having a non-kit arena is a good idea for the wider community, it should be set. Otherwise people will just be encouraged to hop around arenas attempting to find (or get lucky) the arena without kits.
