Why not make it a 14+? where because that's what family guy is rated and it has everything that i think we would all see in a 18+ channel . and here is another thing people can not talk about other people in it meanly if this idea does happen

1. Just checked your profile, your not 18. If your not 18, why make a suggestion you cant even take part of?
2. Private chat channels allow swearing and such.

I was wondering if there is any way possible there could be an 18+ chat with age verify? I ask, not because i want a randy chat, but more because some adult users may feel weird having a conversation with younger players. I get sketched if i hear some kid is 12...

While many of the younger players on this server are mature, it would be nice to have a chat where the adults can have discussions about adult topics without fear of offending and/or permanently scarring youth. Obviously it would need to be moderated, since i dont think anyone wants a pervy chat, and obviously certain server rules would still apply(harrassment), but in 18+ some would be less strict(swearing, teasing, etc) I dont mean being outwardly mean, just poking fun.

I do think the need is there though, and it would be a great feature for adult players. I think some of the best parts of the server are chatting with other players, but sometimes it is like walking on eggshells to avoid hurting feelings. A place to trashtalk, or just make stupid comments would be great. This could be had with an 18+ chat.

This feature could be bought in game for 15k, plus an age verification, or purchased via donation for $1 dollar(just to age verify). Age verify could be handled through the card they use to donate(must have their name on it), and an "I am over 18" agreement form. If the player if found to be underage, they obviously get banned from the chat(or whatever punishment) and wont receive a refund of either in game or real money.

I really think this would be a great addition to the server overall and benefit the entire community, it may even take some pressure off of the mods.

 

Because it's weird to talk to kids. Its great some kids can handle things, but adults can get creeped out talking to kids, even if it about nothing at all. I think an adult chat protects the underage, heck, have an under 18 only chat if you feel like it is exclusionary.

 

I want a +16 chat channel. ^_^

 

While separate channels for every age would be great, i think it would be a burden on the server. Keep in mind, do you really want a bunch of old people pretending to be 16? Creepy right?

 

I've skyped with 12 year olds pretending their 16 so they can be friends with me. -_-

Exactly, which is why over 18 is good. I dont want to accidentally chat with some underage kid about an adult oriented subject if i can avoid it. I also do not want to filter my entire chat experience... 18+ is great.

Like i said, it isnt about bad language, or a pervy chat. I think it is an extra way to protect both younger and older users(sometimes from themselves).

 

I never denied your right to make the suggestion. Its that "if" this gets accepted then you wont even be able to join it. It just doesnt make sense. Also if you actually read through the post jamiesinn sent you they agreed to not do the new server idea and just go with a new chat channel.

 

I read it, and it turned into an argument very quickly. Could you please send the post number, or quote from it when this would happen. That would be great and super helpful to add to this current discussion.

Lets not have this thread turn into an argument over who is "more correct". That isn't at all in the spirit of the server in my opinion. It is a suggestion thread, the last post was titled "server", so it is easily misinterpreted.

 

If this does happen, then like everyone who's like, 10, will feel left out, then his/her friends will feel left out, thus they would rage in chat, creating more work for mods, making the mods quit ecc, thus having no mods on the server, resulting in everyone else talking about mature topics in global chat anyway. ;)

 

If they rage in chat they probably shouldn't be playing online yet then, dont you think? Global would still be open for all. Just like you can switch between mining or auc and global. The 18+ would be 18+ but they can still see the rest of the chat. So nobody would be left out. Underage just cant see the 18+. Kind of like donor chat now, if i understand donor chat correctly.

Lol but yeah, maybe global would be more busy... i do agree mods are needed overall though. They keep chaos to a decent level.
