Family guy doesn't have swearing, it doesn't have any horrible racism like "n****", it also doesn't have many (if any at all) discussions about religion, suicide, and other EcoCityCraft considered touchy subjects.

Hilv that is not appropriate and is a direct attack on another player. Also, it is completely off topic.

As for this, no. So many people could take pictures off the internet and fake who they are. Or they could take a picture of an older sibling/parent/friend etc. There is no way to guarantee someone is the age they say they are minus a drivers license or government issued ID.

Not so much as 18+, but just have it to where you need to apply. In the application, you could state that you're okay with these subjects. 18+ seems a bit silly, as its difficult to prove.

Making it a donation feature seems a bit excessive. Just a simple application format where you say that you're okay with swearing and other subjects would be fine.

 

Problem with a simple 'agreement' thing: We have been, our generations, taught all our lives that if we just keep hitting the 'agree button' even if we don't know what we are agreeing to, we will eventually get what we want. Kids will just agree. Just like some kids agree to contracts on the forum that they never read. So someone who is way too young and can't actually handle it is going to go and apply. Then the 'super secret adult topics channel' will be invaded by kids whining that the topic is too scary.

Anyways, that all said, I think I'm done arguing this topic. I'm pretty sure andrew wouldn't be willing to do this, so I see no point in me further arguing. Thus, I will be stepping out of this suggestion ring. If for some reason anyone really wants a further bit of my opinion, shoot me a forum PM.

 

As long as they still agree to cursing, I don't see a problem. As long as they say they can handle it, let them in. Its not a simple "agree" button, its an APPLICATION. They should know what they're applying for.

Still, but family guy isn't near as vulgar as an 18+ chat would be, and my point is..

No to hilv. No 14+ chat. If we had a 14+, why not a 13+ or a 12+ or even a 10+! I know many people more mature than many 16+ users, that are younger than 14. Age means nothing, it's your emotional control, maturity, and how well you can handle touchy subjects.

 

I myself think that I a pretty mature person compared to other users on this server, some of which are much older than me. I am able to handle touchy subjects because I have enough experience in life to know what to take in and not. This is because age does not equal maturity. However, my maturity is not important to this suggestion.

Pros:
Users can have more mature discussions that may be politics, religion, other touchy subjects.
People can speak a little bit more loosely

Cons:
Breaks up community into two main chats (This is what I predict will happen with this new chat)
Someone could pull off a wc.
Only about half the staff team could moderate this chat

I don't think that we need a new chat just so the older players can speak a little bit more loosely. This can easily be done through a town chat channel. Also, if we were to have a channel like this I think that only mild swearing and mature conversations should be added. Racism and harassment should never be okay on this server or anywhere else. This shouldn't be people's go to channels to mess with other players and be "big kids". Also, this should not be added at all if staff can't be 99.999% sure the users joining are older than 18. I am speaking for pretty much all teens and younger, if you don't make this impossible to get in without being 18, we will find our way in.

 

I disagree with this, all the older people which are probably more important and not noobs will go to the 18+ channel and the poor 12 year olds like me who are actually more mature around that kind of stuff will be left out. It will also divide the community into two groups, which will probably be bad.

 

It doesn't matter if they agree, a 10 year old could easily say he agrees, but that doesn't mean his parents allow it. Besides, the reason people want a 18+ chat channel is so they DON'T have to talk with kids.

 

"Kids"? Well I see it as being a good and by thing i know many adults who play on this server or "claim to be adults", but they don't act the age they say they are. I know a user who says he has kids and he acts like a kid, I think your not really going to get away from "kids" I mean it's mine-craft, kids play mine-craft so why try getting rid of them. The only reason i see why people want this 18+ channel is because they think they will get away with "profanity" and "trash" talking, I believe their excuse is getting away from kids.

 

There are plenty of adults who find it awkward talking with children, and therefore keep quiet altogether.
And yes, this suggestion is also for people who want to talk with more profanity.

And don't misunderstand, I do not like this suggestion and I doubt it will happen.

 

Its not getting away from children, its so that we have the freedom to curse. I personally don't mind if there's a child in the channel, as long as they don't get offended by the cursing, I don't see a problem.

 

Is it really necessary to curse so often we need to have its own chat just to do so..... Come on, grow up.
