Hello ECC citizens! As you may know back in September of 2011 the first Ecocitycraft super-moderator decided to create a blog on the forums that would showcase the awesome creations of our members and help to bring us all closer together. Sadly however this blog ended up dying out after just fifteen days due to lack of player participation and subject matter. I believe that this issue no longer would be prominent because of our massive collection of creative and active users. At this time I would happily like to announce that I will be bringing back the ECC blog!!! This weekly blog will feature one awesome build that was submitted to me/that I found on my own, one unique town that once again was either submitted to me or I found by myself. Every so often I will also feature a random town to just change things up and to help out said town to gain in size. Also the blog will have some server announcements (updates, new additions, staff/wiki team apps, major events, etc...). The last thing that I would like to announce that will be part of the blog, is the question of the week! This question will be either of my own creation or user submitted. The question will always be ECC/minecraft related. I really hope that as a community we can make this long lost treasure new again! For the next while (just under two weeks) I won't have access to a computer. So therefore for this to start off smoothly I will absolutely be needing the participation of everyone. I would like for the first edition of the new ECC blog to be out on Sunday or Monday (August 11th or 12th). Now I know this is a small timeframe, however I believe we can do it as long as I get submissions. Unfortunately the first 1-2 blogs will be quite basic in nature because I'll be doing all this from my iPod so I'll be my best but please understand that it's not exactly easy :/ Thank you for reading and I hope you'll be as enthusiastic about the blog as I am! (Below, there is a link to the old version of the ECC blog created by Michaelwm) http://tinyurl.com/kdyplss Question of the week is: If you could change one thing about the server what would it be and why? Post creative and funny answers in the comment section and you might get your comment featured in the next ECC blog post!
As somone who was actually there during the time of this, it didnt really get much attention. Yeah, it got some players who were interviewed more popularity, but thats about it. And even then, everyone who was interviewed was already popular
Jamie, back then, we didn't have the community we have now. Especially in size and content. :b Would be interesting to see another blog-type thing going.
Doing an entire blog by yourself can be very difficult and time consuming. Will you be considering having other people fill in every once and a while? I'd definitely love to write one or two. It sounds fun. And as for the question of the week, I'd have to say...I'd change AndrewKM's mansion, it's ugly, it needs to be made out of dirt.
I might look for back up writers in the future, however I feel I can handle it because the blog will be a weekly thing. So in the future if I find that the workload is becoming too much I'll remember your offer. Thank you
If I could change one thing about the server, it would be the PvP arena. Waaay too many fights go on there.
As I said previously, this blog will help to showcase people who have made awesome creations or built up cool towns. When I select a player to interview (if I decide to do an interview) the popularity of the player willnot effect my decision. I want to interview people who truly deserve to be showcased not just people who are well known.
Still looking for submissions of towns and awesome builds!! Post here or pm me on the forums about your town/build and you might get featured in the very first edition of the ECC blog!! What an honor!
I would have some elements of politics exempted from the touchy subjects rule, namely things which people don't get emotional about and are led on to making arguments based on sheer anger and emotion rather than rationality. Discussion of the market economy vs. the planned economy (but not capitalism vs. communism), fiscal and monetary policy in the US and the UK, the European Union and whether enlargement is needed. Abortion, gun control, stem cells, secularism and the like should not be allowed for discussion, because there are too many idiots on both sides of the argument.
I would of course change trapdoors into waffles and make them edible. also, feature darkwatch :3 not my town but awesome
Lol why does he need permission? If he was making his own website for it then yeah. But he's doing it on the ECC forums.
I see no where on it saying it's official. If it was titled "Official ECC blog" then yes, I could see reason to get Andrew to approve it. But as of right now, no, it's just "Anvil's ECC Blog"
I have discussed my plans with Andrew and Skylexia however to create an ECC blog I do not require any kind of permissions as to my knowledge. But yes, I am "approved".
I would love for this blog to be officiated and endorsed by Andrew/Skylexia and they have expressed interest to me. However as this is a new idea any kind of special featuring is very much in the short to long term future.
I would change the colour of supermods+ to anything but red, they seem to frightening in that colour. Maybe purple, as for the most part it would still stand out.
