People, specifically builders, often ask questions in global chat, but these questions are quickly swept away by the vast amount of messages that appear in chat all the time. A channel named Questions or Help would prevent that from happening. Of course, this on its own isn't good enough. New users are notorious for not reading anything that isn't completely obvious and immediately asking questions in local chat upon joining the server. We can help them with a new feature that was added in 1.8. Titles. Just pretend the top line says something like "Welcome to EcoCityCraft" and the bottom line something like "Have fun and if you have any questions type /ch Q" (I suck at this stuff so it's just an example) This way builders would know where to ask questions, making it both easier for staff and the builders! Yay!
+314! I love the 1.8 titles. Can they also be called with a plugin, or do they require command blocks? I would vote for /ch help.
I like the idea of a channel dedicated to questions. However, one of the most common problems I see with builders is a lack of knowledge regarding channels, like Builders replying in local chat to something that's happening in Global, getting frustrated because nobody seems to notice them (When I was a builder it actually took me like a week before someone told me I was basically speaking alone in Local) so your Titles implement is absolutely necessary to make this work like it should, and it should be made as easy as possible for them to understand what they're being told, as a lot of builders even have problems with basic commands...

Great suggestion +1! When I get more time to be in-game, I would volunteer to be in /ch help. I remember when we built a village in the mining world together with 4-5 builders. I had saplings, seeds, wood, stone, tools etc to get them started. They built their houses, I built a village center. There was a chest where I kept putting goods they might need. None of the builders stole anything, they only used what they needed. We asked for a mod to place some water, made a little farm, grew some trees (it was in a desert biome). We built a small mine at y11 and I taught them how to properly mine. Man that was fun!
I see your point, but won't it just be moving the people asking help in local/global/trade into 1 chat? I think it will make it easier for staff, as they won't have to check local and global for help chat anymore.
There's plenty of staff. That's not a problem. It's a problem when builders ask questions that don't get answered. It's those builders who end up ranking up and being our userbase. Leaving a good impression on new players ultimately helps the server grow. Weigh the pros against the cons, don't just weigh the cons.
If it comes down to "another chat for staff to moderate I'd say remove trivia and keep this as a help channel would probably be far more beneficial than trivia ever could.
When they removed trivia everyone freaked out like they used it all the time (I never saw anyone use it). Now people use it all the time for random stuff.
Get rid of Trivia and replace it with this. I'd rather there be a place to answer builders' questions and keep them on the server than a place for a president to give 1k to whoever guesses the capital of Nebrahoma.
