being able to see someone else talking in chat when they are vanished /ignoring you just leads to more shit talking behind their back, if there was no way to see them on at all then there is no fuel for the fire. The ignore feature just helps players not have to deal with those who are otherwise obnoxious / blatantly disrespectful. It’s alot less work to /ignore than have to sit there and collect evidence to file a report when half the time staff are either not on or just don’t do anything
