Hi, I'm OliPro007. As I wandered around the mining world, I've actually never seen any animal or mob. I know it's probably to prevent lag, but it's actually quite annoying. I think there is some other technics that can help rather than reducing the spawn count of mobs, like modifying chunkloading parameters instead.
When we look at technical mods, like industrialcraft for example, any machines that are in a chunk that is unloaded because there isn't any player in that chunk will not work, because the chunk isn't loaded by the server, so it doesn't use resources, thus no lag.
Same thing with sheeps, if we shear them and go to the nether, in vanilla, the sheep will never regrow its wool when you are in the nether, because no chunk is loaded in the mainworld (in ssp). That could allow us to have a bit more mobs in the mining world, as it will kinda be the new main world for players soon as they will all mine there.
We could also make an area far away in the mainworld that could be unloaded or a new world where there would be farms rented by the server where player could rent for a good amount of money and actually farm animals! (but not hostile mobs...)
I hope that these ideas are good and could be used in the future! :)
?
Do you agree in some way with these ideas?

There are not a lot of mobs because Of /Butcher And if you want to get like wool Just type /spawn and go to the Woolshop (Next to the buildshop and near the Snipe chest) It costs $1 for 1 piece of wool, There are all Colors.:D

I know that we can buy all those from the server but it kinda cuts a part of the economy. I think it could be funnier to make player-to-player transactions rather than server-to-player. It kinda fells op to me too, to have infinite stuff from the server, IMO. Also, I didn't understand the Of /Butcher stuff. What do you mean by that?

The problem is that if we have a lot of sheeps in the mining world, Lag will increase a lot. :(

Only thing is, the farm idea wasn't for the mining world, but the mainworld, in an area FAAAAAARRRRRR AWWWAAY from people, in a chunk that can be unloaded, or a whole new, VERY SMALL world, dedicated to farms made and limited by the server (like 5 farms of 10 animals), that only players who have rented a farm could access, and will obviously unload if there is no player in.

I've seen a couple of sheep and a wolf and that's all the passive mobs I have seen so far in the mining world...it's no fun with out animals :(

There are mobs in the mining world aside from spawners. They are hard to find because people kill them off. You may find some around the outskirts of the mining world.

I had an animal ranch (farm) in the aether. At the high point I think I had like 13 cows and 6 sheep. However, with every manual restart, all the mobs are butchered. Likewise, they are butchered every 15 minutes by the auto butcher. I also had lots of chickens cause you could kind of spawn them, but they are gone now too. When I would loose the animals, I would go look for more and eventually find some way far out. However, after like 60-70k and so many failures to keep animals alive, I finally gave up. The only good thing about aether is there is a no tolorance for griefing, so stealing/killing animals that aren't yours is grounds for removal.

Hope that shearing a few sheep unnoticed or milking a few cows won't cause too much grudge if I find some when I'll finally get the aether. If I agree to kill one and make 2 reproduce will it be that bad? :p

Do sheep's need to be on grass to live. I had two sheep once. And they both died over night
