Out Of Character Background: My goal with this forum post is to provide a story to bring my medieval nation to life. I plan to write out stories for each district that I add along with any huge cities I create. I will edit this post to add any new fictional information. Part 1, Darldon - The City Ruled by a Deity: Those who happen upon the city of Darldon are astounded to find that there is no king, no castle, no ruler to be found. As they stumble around wondering where they are and how the city was created they feel a presence. As if something was over their shoulder. They are astounded by the beauty as they make their way through the town. They stroll through the park and down the pathway to a gate. A cobblestone path leads them through a forest and they see huge stone walls. As they slowly look up they notice it is a temple with water cascading down it. As they slowly approach the door they notice a woman sitting in the middle under a tree. She turns and stares at them. Then she starts to smile and welcomes them to her town. Asking if they would give an offering in order to receive a house to stay in. She explains that she is Goddess Laverna, the protector of Darldon. This deity explains to the human that she needs to gather townspeople because she had a vision of a terrible future to come. They live outside of Darldon without any walls or weapons. They have no leader and they are only comforted by the glimpse of a huge temple nearby. Sometimes the townsfolk see the Goddess stroll through their city offering supplies and food. They give thanks to her and continue their studies. She promises to protect them at all costs and seals their town with a magical barrier against any bodily harm within the birch tree grove.
