Minecraft Username: matrix_rep Have you changed your Minecraft username since being banned? If so, what is your previous name?: No Which of ECC's services are you banned on? [Main Server]: Reason of Ban: Repeated spamming through various means Rule violated: Clause 1 - General Chat Rules All chat is to go into the appropriate channel at all times. Any user who is consistently not using the correct channel, especially in a way that may disturb those attempting to use certain channels, may be removed from the channel and/or punished. Shouts disguised to look like server messages, private messages, balance payments, etc. are not allowed. All types of chat formatting are available for shouts. CAPS, in-game advertisements, colors, and font styles (Italics, bold, underline, strikes) are completely allowed. For both Shouts and Lottery: Spamming either shouts or lottery is allowed to an extent. Excessive use of either command which results in chat being hard to read may result in a warning or a kick from the Staff. Please explain in your own words what the rule(s) means: The rules clearly state spamming is not allowed and people who spam will get banned Reason you feel you think you should be unbanned: Honestly I knew this ban was coming for a while. I am very known for spamming and just getting hyped up for stupid things. Over the past 4 months I have recieved numerous warnings for spamming possibly (this is an estimate) around 125 warnings in the past 4 months. I understand that what i do is considered stupid and foolish and I honestly don't know why I do it either. I feel as though it is a force of bad habit and over the past month I have been pretty good about not spamming except over this past weekend. I feel that i should be unbanned because I have truly been trying to cut down on the spamming, however this last weekend and past few days I have "binge spammed" which resulted in my ban. I dont try to make promises that I know I cannot keep so I won't be appealing on the behalf of "i will never spam again" because chances are I will spam in the future. However I will try to refrain myself from this behavior and will do the best I can in not spamming. Best regards -matrix_rep
Hi Matrix, To be completely honest with you, I'm more than thrilled to see you've decided to appeal. Now let's begin; I'm actually genuinely surprised with the second paragraph that you have written containing your reasoning as for why you believe you should be unbanned. It not only seems sincere but it's straight to the point and in a sense provides me with the thought that you're actually remorseful of your actions. Now to express my concerns; Matrix, I've known you for quite some time and I'm hoping that after building such a connection with you over all the time on ECC, that you will not take this personally. In no way shape or form is this meant to upset you, just to provide you with some tough love in attempt to better shape you to follow the rules. You need to understand we have those specific rules set in play not only to provide you with a fun gaming experience, but also the others amongst the community. This so called excitement and enjoyment simply can not be kept secluded to you and yourself. Both yourself and I are more than familiar with your frequent and frankly simply annoying spam attack instances. It's an issue that should have been addressed and handled quite some time ago. As to why it's gotten to the point as to deserving and ultimately ending in a ban, I'm truly in awe. I've had many talks with you both in and out of the game regarding this issue. Explaining the importance of abiding the rules, and playing on the server with a mutual but friendly mindset. With your instances of spam, you're not only getting yourself in trouble but you're upsetting and disrupting the rest of the server. This can't continue. I simply can not stress how many times I've told you that this can not continue. The more I say it, the more I feel it's not going to get anywhere. The more I feel that you're taking it as a simple pat on the back as if tomorrow or even the day after that you're welcome to continue once again with these actions. Just to give you a sense of how we as a staff team tend to work through cases; in basically any set forward case it's often a few warnings a kick or two then a ban. In the history of myself being on the staff team or just in general from my understanding of how the team works, I've never once seen it to such an extent. Almost to the point where one user is warned for the same thing for months on end, warning adding up one after another. Regarding your estimate of 125 warnings in the past 4 months, once again being completely honest, is truly pleasing to see or per say to hear. While no doubt about the fact, it's a ridiculously large number; you've conquered the first step in learning from your mistake. That simply being the fact that you realize that this is an issue, and you're acknowledging it. For that, I'm very proud. Now on to the next step; Glancing back at what you had written, you wrote; I appreciate the fact that you're not going to be making false claims and promises in attempt to bring our hopes up. When you appeal, you're not forced to make false claims. You're encouraged to plan ahead and think about possible solutions and whereabouts for your mistakes. So that being said, perhaps you could think about a way to avoid these actions. Whatever that may consist of, so long as it works it can be unique to yourself. So don't tell me that you're going to come back with the possibility of spamming once again. Tell me that you've thought about it and you have a plan that will aid this issue. Anyway, in attempt to conclude with your appeal; I'm not so happy with your first paragraph. It's upsetting to see that you were simply waiting for this ban. That in a sense makes me feel like all those 125 warnings were pointless. Speaking for the staff team, we don't issue warnings as a constant pat on the back saying "Hey it's okay just stop doing whatever you're doing for a little." It makes those warnings look as if they're nothing. So in essence, warnings practically mean nothing. I'd like you to rethink those few comments. Matrix, you've built such a great well known character over the years here on ECC. Please and I genuinely ask do not let this be the one down fall. I know you have it in you to understand and work out this simple issue. Other than that, I'd like you to spend some time on your next appeal and thoroughly think of a plan to avoid these actions. You don't necessarily have to promise that it won't happen again. Listen Matrix, I get it. We're all humans, we make mistakes here and there. That's life. All I'm asking is for you to take initiative and come up with a possible solution. That being said, I look forward to seeing a new appeal from you soon.
