Brief Description:
I was fighting in the nether with @StanleyMines today when my network connection broke down. (It was my full network, couldn't connect anymore. Download speed went down to an incredible minimum while upload speed going down to a few bytes per second only.
When I was able to reconnect about 2 hours later, I had died. I PM'ed @StanleyMines, he said he had waited for me about 15 minutes to reappear, apparently no items dropped.
Instructions:
1. Play in PvP
2. Lag out while being hit at (Last image before disconnecting was 6 hearts)
3. Wait until able to reconnect again
3. See the death screen.
How many times did you recreate this bug?:
Once...
Result:
A clean inventory instead of my enchanted equipment due to death. :/
Expected Result:
To stay alive when timing out or at least drop the inv when dying.
Evidence:
N/A...all I have are screens of my clean inv. :/

So...just found the relevant part in my logs. (Time in CEST, EST+6)
Code:[19:47:11] [Client thread/INFO]: [CHAT] [ECC-World] You are now in Legacy! This is our 3 year+ map. The legacy of EcoCityCraft. To return to our brand new map use the Rising portal at /spawn. [19:47:11] [Client thread/INFO]: [CHAT] Error: Time before next teleport: 9 seconds.
How would it be possible that I leave the world and then the hit registers? And could that be the reason? That my inv then dropped onto the floor at /home Pi and despawned after? o_O -

Just tried to bring my network to a similar crash as I experienced that day...my client log shows that macro-home was used again, then I disconnected. This time, however, nothing was lost. I assume it really was because of a hit registering too late...
(I have noticed something that could serve as a base for that, commands and hits take different times to register. Tested in SG with @Exilenela a while ago [While trying something else], my macro worked before the hit although it was activated after I hit him. This is only a side note, however I thought it was worth mentioning because of the hit delay.) -
I've seen this happen a lot before.
Basically, what happens is that you TP, then die, then items drop, then you cannot go and collect the items due to 5m of them being available, and you have been out of the chunk for more than the 5m, it is unloaded, and the entities die.
TL;DR: Don't have auto home macros set. -
ABout the TL;DR: MY /home Pi macro has saved my life many times before, so I assume I am still making a profit from prevented deaths. :D
Must. Fix. Network.
