I think he used "Bandicam". Either you use their free version but then you will have a watermark where it sais: Bandicam on the top of the video. Orherwise you can purchase the program and remove tha watermark. I don't know the exact cost.
I haven't done much of screen recording, but Open Broadcaster Software seems very nice and there's no paid version.
