I would like to suggest adding a timer that goes off in chat saying that ground items will be cleared soon, like say in 10 seconds or 5 seconds.

I was just selling a Frost Walker II book to someone and when I dropped it, it disappeared due to the clearing of ground items. No warning was given and he was out of his enchanted book. He was nice enough to give me the money for it, but he had to deal with the loss.

This would help out greatly when dealing with trading to ensure that no important items are lost in the process.

    Thank you for reading this.

ground items aren't cleared. Sometimes they disappear due to a bug. When trading you could use a locked chest to conduct the trade.

This. It isn't an ecc thing, it's just a mine craft thing where something items that are dropped disappear near instantly. Never give anyone anything valuable by tossing it. It will go fine 99/100 times but that 1/100 time will come and you'll be upset you didn't use a chest. Use a chest for all trades and repairs.

Ok thanks. My friend told me afterwards that he uses chests to trade and I guess I just wasn't thinking at the time of the trade.
