That's where the problem lies, stocks are NOT random. Stock markets are such a big thing irl because people can invest in things they think will make money, the "events" irl are never random, they always happen for a reason. Making random stocks would make it just a gambling game, like lottery.

 

Perhaps, we could take real life stocks and incorporate it into the stock plugin. And the stock market would close when it does in real life. Is there a possible way to link these two together?

Having an ECC stock market that mimics the real stock market seems to the solve the problem of how to make one.

As for most of the player's being young and not understanding that is a slight problem. Like sirsolo said above, they don't have to use the stock market.

I've been thinking about investing in the stock market in real life soon, so this would be a great way to get into the swing of things without losing any real money.

Yes I'm only 12 years old, but for those with an understanding about stocks, this would be an amazing idea. It also helps kids to understand the stock market which is good for real life skills, ect, more users joining the server.

It doesn't sound too hard to pull off, so I'm all for it.

As stated on the website, the plugin does not randomly generate events as you think. the stocks are determined by the server, the plugin fulfills the action with events.

Users are not obligated to participate and many users on here (including myself) know much about the economy and probably have goals to have a career in that field area (like Jason1964) and might know how stocks work + this is a hardcore server the more complex the better

As a stock market user myself, I would love to implement this idea into ECC. With all the great coders and programmers on this server, it shouldn't or wouldn't be that hard to make the plugin just right for ECC.
I realize that many kids play on this server and that they can barely grasp the understanding over supply and demand, but there are people who have a passion for this work field and would like to practice if I should say. Although to most the stock market is boring because it should only be used for long term investments and not short terms investments like houses. (That's what star tools are for) To improve this problem, ECC should speed up the process of rising and declining share prices.
Another problem such as having too much money could overflow the market. People such as @averagejoe2012 would be able to buy all of the declining stocks and then wait a week or two for them to rise back up and make a fortune. People will too little of money would object to this just as much as people without kits object to SG. Rules would have to be implemented such as only being able to buy and sell a maximum amount of shares/stocks per day to limit the overflow of money.
