I was actually asking @314, but Windows 8 requires a minimum of 2GB of Ram in order to operate. Ya if you are having FPS problems, especially if you are running a laptop, there is not much to do because laptops have hardware caps on them to prevent the computer from crashing. The only thing that you can do like both 314 and I stated is install optifine and increase the RAM allocated to Minecraft.

Ya like I stated windows 8 takes a lot more RAM then all the previous generations so more RAM is needed to run everything... I really am looking forward to seeing what they are doing with Window 9 or what ever they are calling it. :)

 

OS means operating system, which would mean windows 8 in your case.

 

Just to add on to this some of the really really old apple computers took like 10 bites of ram which come before kb. This is a actual quote from Steve jobs a long time ago "Computers will never need more then 25b of ram." nowa days some computers take billions times that amount.

 

I personally am not a fan of MAC's just because of how overpriced they are. However the one main thing that Mac's (which is a Unix based OS aka cousin to Linux) is that they OS does not take as much RAM to operate the system even with all the add-ons like iphoto, imovie, etc..., I think that newer MACBooks only take around 512MB-1GB of RAM to operate.
