    Hello everyone.

Ive recently been very interested in building my very own gaming pc - a moderately high end one.
Ive compiled a list of components i would like:
    Case: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... nT_xAQ9d6A

    Motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =A455-3144

    CPU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=B69-4512

    Cooler: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=C13-2100

    Video Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =E145-0580

    RAM: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=C13-5717

    Hard Drive: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... SD-2000AS3

    SSD: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... ivXwa_lF.g

    Optical Drive: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 1374%20OEM

    OS: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=M17-7306

    Power Supply: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =O261-7403

    Monitor: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =A179-2303

    Sound Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 87630&msg=

I think i covered everything there...

Anyway, are all these parts good? Should i add or change anything? anything to make it cheaper while keeping quality?

    Other questions:(to be edited)
If I were to say have a motherboard with 6 ram slots in it, and i put a set of 2 ram sticks in, could i take 4 ram sticks
from a completely different set and put them in there?

amg amg do you have any experience at all? If you don't lemme guide you through all of it cuz' I <3 building computers just can't add another 4k to my spending on newegg /cry. posting this to reserve my spot to critique your build.

If you're planning on basically playing minecraft or any game for that matter, you're going to want to cut down on ram if you want to save money because 32 gigs is basically showoff unless you're doing high end graphics editing. For your question no that will not work unless the ram have the same timings.

The P8Z68 motherboards tend to have an amazing amount of problems within a short span of time. I'd grab an extreme 3 gen 3 ASRock motherboard because it's a very good board trusted by many. (Even won customer awards quite a few times.) For your CPU I'd just grab a 2500k and overclock it if you're doing gaming almost all the time. If you're not afraid of overclocking and can actually use the 2600k's hyperthreading (which only a handful of programs can.) I'd buy the 2600k then. I'd switch the cooler out for an H80 if you want to save some money. Really not much of a difference between the h100 and h80. Your HDD I do not approve of because it is 5900 rpm. SSD Agility series tends to bsod and freeze within a few months. Optical drive is given way too much attention in my book unless you're planning on watching blu-ray videos on your... 23" monitor. (You can always hook it up to your TV, but then again you could just buy a blu-ray player for your TV) OS, PSU, and the SC are all good. For you monitor I'd suggest grabbing an ASUS because they're reliable and don't develop dead pixels within two months. (Many acers freeze within a month or two actually)

The 32 gigs is for the extreme future. I want to be able to use this pc for 3-10 years at least (with occasional updates of course)

I didn't just blindly pick a motherboard. THe P8Z68 has very good customer reviews, and was even recommended in a build.
If you want to suggest a specific component, at least make a link (preferably tiger direct)

For the cpu, isn't the 2.6k better than 2.5k? Also, I'm fine with over clocking a bit. And like i said, its for the extreme future so I don't mind if its a bit overkill (hyper threading)

Cooler: I prefer having a better one, it doesn't save too much money anyways.

HDD: I was considering another one... is a 1tb with faster rpm better than a 2tb with lower rpm? I really couldn't decide, and anyway i have an SSD...

For the SSD, what do you recommend?

For the blu-ray, again i want this to last far into the future (blu-ray will most likely rule over DVD)

For the monitor, i researched it and looked at reviews and the acer one seems to have much better ratings than any ASUS i could find..

Nothing to say about the video card? Is it good? :p

Graphics card is the best in the business unless you buy a professional card but within about 5 months when AMD releases their new card that won't be the case. If you grab 3 of those and tri-sli you'll be fine for the future. I know 2 friends who had major problems with their P8Z68 board, first one had to RMA it thrice, finally got a non-DOA and it broke his system within 3 months. The second one had to RMA once due to DOA. (obviously) He had the board for about 5 months, had the system bsod due to the board. The specific board you're talking about hasn't won any customer rewards and isn't one of the top most purchased boards. It does indeed have plenty of great reviews, (and bad reviews) but ASUS's motherboards are very unreliable. (The brand isn't even in the top buy list...
It is in the tigerdirect top bought list, but I trust newegg more even though they don't ship to Canada I bechieve
even though it's dominated by 1155)
    http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=280&name=Intel-Motherboards&Order=RATING
(ASUS produces about 3 good boards they are Sabertoot, Maximus, and Rampage) I'd go with the 2600k then in your case. Cooler is great just could save something :D. For your HDD, The only factor in speed is rpm in the HDD world. For your SSD I'd recommend a corsair crucial (extremely reliable brand). Monitor... Actually ACER more then half the time develops dead pixels, screen tearing, and freezing... Besides it's 5ms... (Experienced acer buyer and I have a huge tech family who used them and had this problem for years -That's more then 30 ACER monitors I know of-).

1366 is dead.. so sr-2 is dead. Look for the ivy bridge extreme's coming out.. 2011 is the socket for future proofing.

Ant here is another purpose build machine.. alot more affordable.

For just $139, you can net a 3.5GHz Phenom II X4 970. That gives you four cores, a much larger cache, and a fully unlocked part for not much more than the Athlon II X4 has been going for. The Phenom II X4 isn’t always a clear-cut winner against its Intel counterpart, the 3.3GHz Core i3-2120, but it does hold its own in multithreading tasks and game-related chores, which are all about the GPU.

These are all avail except for the 680 GTX video card. That can be substituted for an ATI 7970 card.

I would stay away from the 32GB memory for the time being as it is so expensive.

Nvm about the extra power, I just need it cheaper.

With tax and shipping it goes up to about $2850.

I'm thinking about getting an iBuyPower (http://www.ibuypower.com) but I need to know if it's good? Also, stay away from Alienware. It's overpriced and it doesn't work as good after awhile. :/

If you see the first machine i posted thats about as powerful as you could really ever need.

Gumland check out Origin PC http://www.originpc.com/

Ant we can save a hundred with a lesser quality memory and a hundred on motherboard and prob a hundred on a lesser video card or if you can find an GTX 680, and possible a cheaper case. but that case is awesome!

You are going to pay for Hard Drives do the all the flooding overseas in Thiland. SSD are still very expensive but are closing in on the $1 per Gig level. I have kept the same processor but have lowered the GPU Model. The case, power supply, memory, and motherboard are still good quality just a little lower on the performace rung.
