I’ve been having trouble selling houses in my towns (4 of them).
Do people still buy houses in ecc? This excluding builders/new players.

Im usually hired to build them. People want homes built into their own towns the way they want it and all that. So its gonna be challenging selling them unless you got a 10/10 quality house for sale.
So its not really dead- people still pay for homes, just not ones that are... prebuilt? (idk how to explain) -

Otherwise, don't sell for a lot of money, because the only buyers are going to be low ranked.

I don't know if I'd say the entire market is dead since there's a lot of other variables to consider. It mostly depends on who your audience is that you're trying to attract and where your houses are situated. New players are more in the market for houses but won't be able to afford anything huge, plus you're competing with plot markets, and old players with fat wallets will only buy houses in well-known and well-developed towns like what Capbo_ said.
So I wouldn't say it's dead, but it's certainly not the brightest market currently. If you're really good at building houses and you've got a really nice town to build them in, then you should be able to make good money off of them-

I would say there is a good demand but there is excessive (not quality) towns and plots for sale.

Also I feel there is a demand for extremely cheap housing (builders) and extremely high quality housing by older players. In my opinion there is no in between in demand.

People are struggling to give away free plots.
This answers your question without issue. -
Redpandapenguin BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️I defiantly agree that its hard selling houses but I sell more homes for 25k+ then for 10k.
-
That makes no sense to me. Why buy a house for 25k+ when you can buy a town for like 30-40?

Those are also two wholly different products -
Why do people spend hundreds on steak dinners when rice and beans will fill them up?

Also a house is exactly like you want it and a town you just have the land to make it or a bad house that isn't what you want.
-
Fairly arbitrary response. Like Replication of builds etc is simple in Minecraft, while cookery takes an amount of skill. Purchasing a house in a town, or buying a town and building your own. It seems like buying plots is the poor person thing to do - which we have none of, considering our new coming player base is 0.
-
The housing market is complicated. It requires monumental effort and a large fortune to develop a quality town.
