I recently added fly donation and was quite disappointed when I went mining while in flight eff7 works like a normal pickaxe am I going something wrong or is it suppose to be like that ? I do not use any flying mods in my client yet there was a recommendation to use "cjb flying mod" when you get the donation feature. Do I need that ? Thanks
This happens because of the way flying is coded in minecraft. I believe some of the swimming mechanics were used to code flying and therefore you mine slower. I could be wrong but I don't think there is any server side fix for this.
What @ChrisDKN has said is true, sort of. You break blocks slower if your feet are not touching the ground. This does still factor in efficiency, an eff7 pick while flying is faster than an eff5 pick while flying. Personally, I use /speed with my eff7 to mine faster and gather a higher income. I highly suggest you find a /speed that works best and mine at that.
Ok thanks guys so in other words that's normal Well I go mine some more with it so far I was just whacking 3x5 tunnels where using speed is not very beneficial unless I want to run into lava quicker , I might try other suggestion such as just running straight in 2x1 tunnel so far 3hx5wide works ok for me. I have to say I am skeptical to reports I have read of people making 100k an hour lol, but it's still an amazing tool worth every penny so far I'm around 12-15k per hour that includes time for fortuning what I find, good thing stores like quefueve still buys ores of iron and gold don't need to cook this stuff whatever he does with it remains a mystery.. Ps: @quefueve If you make a sign to buy half a stack of iron for $7.40/iron ore ($236.80) I will still sell iron ore to you, otherwise I just stand there for a long while selling 500+ irons Time is Money
Yes I know but not ORE gotta cook it I guess I should edit not $7.4 per ingot but per ore Actually any store owner I be happy to sell you my iron ore for $7.40 provided you have fast sale sign half a stack at minimum this way I save time and you make a little profit I guess ...
I'm not sure how relevant and it looks like your personal issue has been solved but my mining technique consists of walking with speed 6 in a 2x2 tunnel at y:11. A normal hour long trip can easily bring 20k+. I also reccomend getting a cooking pot and a few million fuel for it if you haven't already. My mining is just about to reach 800 so any other questions or advice you need you are welcome to /msg me ingame or reply here in private or right here on this thread. (Please note my 20K/hr method is reassured with Water, Pyro+, ExtCommands+, Fly+, and an Eff7. Your results may vary.)

I will try to make a test tonight 1-2 hours mining see how I make out and post it here or in rainbowmaster12 who has nice thread to compare, I will also include time I spent to fortune the ores will see my $/hr I have extcommands + and fly+ relevant to mining to help me of which I probably won't use fly/speed don't want to run into lava too fast lol I will also try the bright display "cheat" (deemed legal last I checked ) loose them torches. As for cooking pot I'm thinking of getting one eventually for now I use public pot in my town so leaving 10+ stacks of iron unattended might not be the best idea ... I mean it could evaporate by the time I comeback for it ... lol , also I noticed selling one by one to a sign is almost as fast as using a pot then going sell hand as long as shop buys ORE.

@AndyCYXU do you intend on selling the pickaxe at all? Btw if you are going to use a tool that expensive I suggest you purchase pyro and pyro+ or at least where protection 4 armour. If you do not the outcome may not be so pleasing.
Protection 4 armor .... won't leave home without it... Definitely not selling at this moment as it is my new toy and mining is pretty much the only way i make money for now...
Yeah don't forget your armour!! Well let me know if you consider selling it. I would make you a pretty good offer. Probably around 550k or some money as well as donation features. Even though you have armour I would still suggest the pyro just to be safe.
Yes I donated to get Fly+, I would have gotten Pyro and Pyro+ instead if i knew that Fly+ would perform as it does (not to useful for mining IMO so far), but does come in handy sometimes... Oh well will get Pyros next time...
I have $25 left that I can donate but could make it $30 if you wanted the features, I'd be happy to help. I am planning to get myself a star pickaxe soon as well but sadly I do not have fly+ only fly. Do you think it is worth getting, I am tossing up whether to or not.
Honestly for purpose of "Mining Alone" I think it is not worth it, however the story might be different in the nether where travel by foot is kinda... HOT TOE ... I suppose since you already have pyro+ you could then use the SPEED part of this donation since you don't need to care or hardly watch where you going LOL. Using SPEED will not negatively affect how fast EFF7 brakes stones, but when flying Eff7 is comparable to standing on the ground with basic Diamond Pick braking stone. If I could change I would have gotten ExtCommands++ or ExtCreations instead of Fly+. Don't get me wrong I don't want to make it sound like it's USELESS, but at the same time as I wrote before if I knew I would have gotten something else instead, jumping on couple of blocks to reach the shiny ore up on top isn't a big deal. Basically forget FLY and MINE at the same time, not gonna work, way too slow, I just use it to get up quicker if i mine at 6 then hit lava i just fly up brake couple of blocks at 10-11 stand on them and continue mining on feet I only use the Fly+ since I have it, could do without it, but it will be fun when i try go hunting for beef for fun quicker LOL. I disagree sir. I believe to have a pick as expensive as that, Pyro+ becomes a real necessity. Because at that point, while Prot 4 makes dying less likely, it's not worth risking that money. Now if you had Fire Prot 4 that might work, but what if you forget to put it on
I thought the prot4 strategy would work, till I forgot to put it on after an SG one day. And I liked that eff7 too.
