I am wondering how I can get flat land or water land for mayor. How does that work anyway do I just go to the wild and place signs 200x200 at each corner with cords

You can either go to the wild and stake out your land how ever big you want it with signs at each corner with coordinates or go into the ocean and make a flat piece of land how ever big you want again with signs with coords at each corner. I recommend placing it in water because that eliminates the haste of clearing a massive amount of land and making sure there are no active people living in that area

Personally, I built my town on land. If you can find a relatively flat grassland, it'll save you dozens of hours of dirt placing than making your town on water. If you decide to build a town on water, you HAVE to place 40,000 blocks of dirt to cover the surface of your 200x200 town. Now, had you made the town on a grassland, you can quickly clear the land with an Eff. V. shovel. Chances are you won't be clearing 40,000 blocks either so in my opinion it is MUCH more time efficient.

My town is a natural town. I didn't want to have a vast wilderness of ugly* 10x10s, though I do have 24 of those plots in one corner.
*I don't mean the builds, just the concept; to any of my residents, I think you guys are all great builders. -

Dozens of hours for dirt placing? I believe my estimate was about 4 hours for dirt placing on a 200x200, when i calculated it. -
Falconaire BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Tycoon ⚜️⚜️⚜️To place that many blocks? I doubt it, from what I've seen on forum posts it takes more than 4 hours to place 40,000 blocks of dirt. But, I'm not speaking from experience, being as I cleared my land. But hell, if you can place 10,000 blocks an hour good for you, I just personally can't sit in a chair holding shift and right click for that long, I'd die of boredom.

Don't build on the ocean if you will ever wan to build down. Removing an ocean is... painful. Really painful.

Not the wild, the main world!

Don't build a flat town! Just build around the biome. I love towns that aren't flat. Sunsburrow, my town, is built around an extreme hills biome. :)

Falconaire BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Tycoon ⚜️⚜️⚜️I agree, the town I'm currently working on (Aquila) is modeled mainly around the landscape. So, it looks nicer than a 200x200 farm skyscraper town in my opinion. It does help that every house is ore-built in a medieval style by myself though :p
