Its a shame to see such a wonderful town go...
But we can still try to preserve it by filing greif reports if such things occur, right?

And Matberry I'm flattered:D But if Avaina1918 could get perms, it would be good to see him as mayor :)

Well but we can still file greif reports as residents of the town and we can get people banned for greif just like fomato already has been. And snowflake36 wants to help preserve the town, we can still make france a better town.

If I tagged you, it is because you have perms to France.

It has been deemed unlikely that Avaina1918 can ever receive perms to France as Andrewkm will not perform a transfer of ownership, so realistically only those who already have perms to France can assume Mayorship (unless we want a Mayor who can't do much). That is not to say that Mayorship cannot be assumed by Avaina1918, only that he would have to act through those who do have permissions. I put forward my suggestion that, should the new Mayor consider Avaina1918's apparent right to Mayorship through the actions of the previous Mayor, Avaina1918 would only have to act as an advisor to the Mayorship.

May I also refer back to my original ideas of democratic election. Those who are posting here do not represent the wishes of France, and we may be viewed as setting a dictatorship onto a town without the general agreement of the residents, and the only way in which we can represent the wishes of France would be by voting. I therefore urge that we consider holding elections to settle the disputes. I would be more than happy to supervise them, though if elections do come through, I would be putting myself through as a candidate, so I would assume that you would all consider it more reliable to allow an interested moderator to supervise them.

Vive la France. Vive toujours la France.

The idea, as proposed by Matberry, to hold democratic elections to choose who will unofficially assume mayorship in France I believe is a fair and brilliant solution, seeing as no one in the town wants to see it die. Since the unofficial mayor will not hold the power to remove people who break the rules, it is still the people's responsibility to file greif reports if the elected mayor does not see it.

As for the issue as to who would moderate such an election, I would reccomend Avaina1918 as he paid to buy the town. And, I don't know if I can do this but, I nominate myself... ? :D Good luck to all the other nominees (that is if democratic elections occur)

    Vive la France

Well we don't need to have 1 unofficial mayor and my votes are snowflake36 and Matberry. I would choose Avaina1918 but you don't have perms.

Under the consensus for elections, I shall wait for Avaina1918's response to this and see if he is willing to hold these elections, which I stress should be anonymous and kept secretive. In the meantime, it would be fantastic to have anyone who would like to nominate themselves for elections to compose a manifesto: their policies, their aims, their promises.

I, Snowflake36, am submitting my application for the position of "Mayor" of the town France

I would very much like France to be a town for the people by the people. If I am given the opportunity to become the elected "mayor" of France, I would like to start several campaigns to a) give the town new life and b) get the members of the town involved. I propose a Parliament of sorts where the people of the town can get involved and propose new rules and build projects. Businesses in the town would be encouraged. I would like to set up a community watch group of sorts that could take part in checking the plots to ensure that there is no grief. If there is greif, a Parliament official would be alerted and a report could be filed so that the perpetrator is caught and no more of our beautiful town is damaged.

To explain the Parliament suggestion in greater detail,
A Parliament would be set up for the people and by the people so that every person has a say in France. After all, the officially recognized mayor is banned so we all have a true say anyway and the Parliament would ensure this right. I am not looking to set up a dictatorship as I know some mayors in other towns do. The goal of the Parliament is to keep the people informed about their town and their land and their laws. This town belongs to all of us so we all deserve a say. A Parliament building would be constructed in an empty section of the town (There is one-I checked). In this building, the town could meet on a regular basis, whether it be monthly or weekly, to discuss the current state of our nation and propose new ways to make her better. A community store room would also be built within the Parliament building where supplies could be kept to fix the town. All of the town members would have access to these goods, but only to repair the town. These resources, I believe, would put the well being of the town in the hands of all the residents. Everyone could take part in fixing and bettering the town as a whole, not just their designated plot area. Before I had my own town, I was always itching to get involved in the town that I lived in but I never had an opportunity to do so. With a Parliament system, everyone would have an equal chance to get involved despite rank.

I would just like to add that I am truly grateful for all of the support to see me as the elected mayor. Thank you all so much for the opportunity.

No matter who becomes the Minister of France, our state has a bright future ahead and we will not let her dissolve. She will be a strong nation, one that all the members of EcoCityCraft will look at as a model for what a town should be.

    Vive la France.

    Application for Mayorship

Monsieurs, Madames, today I wish to put forward my application to receive Town Mayorship.

Voting Matberry for "Mayor" has some distinct advantages over voting for other candidates, but I will not argue against the applications of other candidates. I refuse to talk economics, I refuse to talk successes, I refuse to talk about growth, I only talk today of France and its future.

The priority for France is, I envisage, a smooth-flowing Parliament and a smooth-flowing authoritative body, and by voting for myself for Mayor, you would be receiving the implementation of a suggestion as to how a smooth-flowing Parliament could be run. I would not be running France, it would be my Government, and my Government would be made up of the residents, i.e. you. Therefore, everyone would have a place in France and France would be owned by the residents.

I will "listen" to your advice, your concerns, your wishes, but it is up to the people to respond to them, and it is not my duty to react to them, it is simply my duty to broadcast them. I have no power over France, and all I would reserve is the right to hire and fire my ministers and pass and abolish laws, in agreement with the will of the people. I would have much less power than a normal Mayor would have, so down are the days of undemocratic dictatorship and thus begin the days of a people's town.

By voting for myself, you would be voting for the following:
    • An elected, unified government of the residents, by the residents, for the residents. Let us overthrow the dictatorial Mayorships that once ruled our lands, let us, in our unity and in our division, form our own parliaments, our own Mayors, our own leaders. Voting Matberry would ensure that every resident has their place in the Parliament of France, every resident has their say in the running of the town, and that every resident has their glory and triumph spread throughout the lands. We want to let France live on, even after the end of its official Mayors, and we must let France live on, but the only way that we can do is if we, as residents, become official Mayors ourselves. Voting Matberry would also ensure that more people got more control over France, leading to better town services and more control over aspects of the town.
    • The abolition of the title of "Mayor". This is our revolt and this is our revolution: down with the Mayors, long live France and only France. Ministers and a Head of State will now cover the former role of "Mayor", and any "Mayors" that will put their claim to the Parliament of France in the future shall be put straight!
    • The implementation of a main industry to France. We can no longer rely on plot sales to support our town, so what do we rely on? We rely on our trade, our finances, our industries. For their to be any value in the continuation of the French State that we today campaign for, we require a source of income, one that provides for the expenditure of the Ministers and the Parliament of France, and we must thus set our place in the Ecocitycraftian community and form our industries.
    • The introduction of fixed terms for Heads of State. There will still be a Head of State, though with fewer powers as the former Mayors, and you vote for me as a provisional one by voting Matberry, but by voting Matberry, you also vote for elections to occur monthly to determine the popular will.
    • Unity under the tricolour. We are no longer the town of the Mayors, we are the town of the Residents, and we must stand out and shine to be the town of the Residents, and let the whole Ecocitycraftian world know that we are the town of equality, the town of freedom, the town of the united people of France.
Note that, under my reign, all that I have stated above can be altered, modified and changed to suit your wishes, so our unwritten constitution could change, our political system could revamp and our systems can change. You would be in control, not I.

The contents of a typical Parliament of France that I propose:
    • 1 Head of State, to form the Parliament and ensure that it is run to the residents' accord, and to represent the people and their wishes.
    • 1 Finance Minister, to control the income and expenditure of the Parliament and ensure that the State remains profitable in its industries.
    • 1 Minister of Culture, to maintain existing infrastructure, hire architects and builders and manage new and affordable projects to enhance the beauty of the State of France.
    • 1 Protector of the People, to file grief reports, ensure the safety of the residents and the compliance to the rules of the town.
    • 1 Minister of Infrastructure, to ensure that plot limits are kept, to create new plots for new projects and modify existing plots.
    • 1 Guarder of the Laws, to ensure that the State does not corrupt itself, remains equal and fair for all residents, that the head political figures adhere to rules, and to declare the collapse of Government should it occur.
Monsieurs, Madames, I wish you a good day, and pray that you may triumph in success.

    Vive la France.

I do not believe there should be elections simply because I, since I paid 50k for the mayorship to France, believe that if I was not elected as Mayor I would be getting scammed.
However, these elections can be for the Mayor's advisor who handles grief reports, lwc removals, and the like. I just want the town I paid a large sum of money for. The idea of holding elections is a good one, Matberry, and if I did not pay the money hans_08 requested I pay in order to ascertain the very mayorship you are giving for free right now, I would be perfectly content with the idea.
Even though I am not a member of the town (and the second hans_08 is unbanned, if he is, I will NOT let him forget it), I just believe that if I was not deemed the current Mayor I would be further scammed. I made a legitimate financial investment to this town, and all of the OLD co-mayors coming out of the cracks, trying to ascertain what I worked hard to get for FREE. I understand I do not have perms, and I know that is a setback, but right now, all I want is recognition of my ownership of France. If (when) you deem me unofficial mayor of France, Matberry, or snowflake36 could be my assistant.

I would be unable to reach these terms, on several grounds:
    1. Electing you as Mayor would impede the growth and continuation of the town, as you would have to act through a group of "advisers", thus rendering the authoritative body of the town ineffective in contrast to the authoritative bodies that both myself and snowflake36 are offering to implement. Currently, France's biggest priority should be restoring order through a secure Parliament and an effective government, not introducing an ineffective State that is run through minions. Simply put, you would do damage to the French State through your lack of permissions, and especially now that we reform France, it would be much more beneficial to have a Mayor who also has permissions to the town and does not need to act through a second body of people.
    2. The French State should not suffer for the actions of a scammer. You claim that you have been scammed, but notice how when you report a scam, moderators do not restore to you what you have been scammed, and I do not see any reason why the same policies should not be applicable here. The Mayor that scammed you should be punished rather than the French State (and I believe that the French State will be punished if it is put under your control, through a less efficient Government).
    3. You have so far provided no evidence to support your claims, which is beginning to seem very suspicious to me. Not only this, but you have failed to report the scam to the moderators, perhaps under the fear that they would punish you if they ever discovered that perhaps no transaction took place? You also replied to this thread four days after you were supposedly scammed, which either implies that your claims are false and that you are only attempting to steal a town and have found this rather convenient opportunity, or that you simply do not care about the town that you were "scammed", which makes me question how a Government under your control would function. As carelessly and uninterested as you seem to have been? Please provide us with some evidence that you have been scammed in the first place, then show it to the moderators for justice to be shown, and then argue that you should be Mayor.
    4. Both Snowflake36 and I until now have offered, or have had intention to offer, reasonable posts within the new French Government, that you seem to have so far declined, and instead counter-offered with a complete reverse of our policies, with you as the Head of State and us as Ministers which, as I have stated above, would be an ineffective Government that would worsen France.
    5. The whole point of this thread is to make our stand and show that France can't be bought and sold, because it is unique to be bought and sold, and that residents can form their own unity and make their own decisions. For me, personally, the peaceful popular agreement of the people ensures a successful Mayorship. And the peaceful popular agreement of the people can only determined in elections. You are fighting for plots that are owned, for land that has been bought, for control over residents that have opinions. Let's hear those opinions and have an election. If you wish to stand candidate, then do so, and appeal your case to the residents rather than us and attempt to convince them that, just because you were scammed, you should govern their town. Let's put the residents in control, so that they can put the Mayorship in control.
I do not want to undermine you. I understand that you have been scammed, and understand that you want what you have supposedly bought to be in your possessions, but I simply believe that France needs a stable Government and I fear that you are in no condition to be able to provide it for her. This said, though, you are more than welcome to argue for your rights to Mayorship. Equality in the law includes your own equality, after all.

I wait your replies with anxiousness.

First, I'm sorry you don't believe me. One of the main problems (and reasons I didn't report) is that I didn't take screenshots. But, you know what? The second hans_08 comes online, you'll see that I'm not the one lying. You're lying to yourself.
I don't think I'd make a good mayor either. This whole thing is an emotion-fueled case of my denial towards the moderators and the like telling me there's nothing I can do. I'm going to email andrewkm about me being scammed, though, and see if there's anything he can do about it.

Don't immediately tell me nothing will come of it. I will see.

    Au revoir.

Whilst your explanation is credible, I ask you one thing. Please, not do not feel inclined to leave France. Should you wish to play an active role in the future of the town, and should elections be pursued and I find myself to be the Head of State of France, I would be more than happy to have you serve as a Minister to the Parliament of France and, as I have already stated, I cannot find any reasons for why you should not be applicable for candidature, plot-holder or not.

I feel bad for evoking so much drama in this town. I will not leave this town forever, Matberry, I love France, but I think it's time I give this whole scam thing a rest. I would love to help out with the elections, and serve as financial advisor and whatnot, but only if you deem it appropriate.

Very well, elections are deemed appropriate then. I will find a moderator who is interested in collecting the results, create a new thread regarding town elections, and whilst, unless there are outstanding objections, I will take control of the running of the elections (i.e. control the thread), I will leave the data-collection and revealing to a trusted moderator.

Does that sound like a good plan?
