My parents offered to purchase me a new laptop for High School. I really want something that can function well for school and computer science classes, as well as playing ECC fairly well, as well as other mid-range intensive games such as League of Legends/Hearthstone. I may even want to stream, but I doubt this machine will be able to. How does this look? *If I should delete the price, just PM me. I don't have Photoshop or another similar program, so you can simply delete this thread if needed.
Well, its on a laptop. Laptop parts are hard to change if you don't know what your doing. Well, They are to me anyway. Asus and Nividia do pretty good graphics cards.
Yea, changing my parts is basically out of the picture. I guess I might just have to stick with what I got, thanks for the advice though.
That laptop may have trouble running MC as it only has 4 GB of RAM. Unless you /really/ need the touchscreen I suggest that you ditch it and get a laptop with higher specs for like half the price.
My parents had that as a specific thing that they wanted it to have, so unlikely for me to get rid of the touch screen. I'll see what I can do about the RAM.
Why do you need a touch screen so badly? You could just tell them that it is a poor investment on their dollar and could be spent better elsewhere.
I'm talking to them now actually. As money is not as much of an importance to them, they may be willing to update the specs without getting rid of the touchscreen. My Dad has connections and apparently touch screens will be important in the next 6-12 months, but we'll see about that.
That is a top of the line business laptop which is awesome, but not the best at gaming. Gaming: Will probably run MC okay, but don't expect a miracle xD As for those other games, I believe those are intensive and you may want to consider a laptop with dedicated/discrete graphics as Thinkpads aren't known for their gaming xD School/Comp.Sci.: Should run IDEs and school programs fine. It's very portable. Other than that, it will suit your school needs well, but as a gaming laptop, it would be a headache xD Also, if you don't value portability and don't mind carrying around a 15.5 inch 5.6 pound workstation for a bit cheaper., I would recommend this very powerful laptop for intensive engineering or school programs, but the touchpad is a bit awkward from what I've heard. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/w-series/w540/ If you don't really want power or graphics, then get the x1 carbon. It's probably one of the best ultrabooks out there for portability and features.
Thanks so much. I actually upgraded the memory to 8GB and the processor for a little extra gaming power.
That i5 should be enough, but if you plan on playing LoL and those other intensive games, you really should get some better graphics than Intel's, but Intel's latest 4000 series graphics should run MC okay.
http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7378-clevo-w370ss-p-6990.html?wconfigure=yes I have the one generation older of this laptop and I love the crap out of it.
I got a lenovo y510p which seems to be reasonable for gaming and for education stuff. Its not an all out gaming laptop, more of a hybrid in my opinion. I have the i7 4th gen version. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y510p/#techspecs I have yet to test it out, but I am pretty confident it will be fine for both school work and for minecraft.
