    Not necessarily, asking in global chat is unlikely to receive a full response. It would be harder to communicate in continual messages in game than seeing one fully typed forum post relating all experiences clearly and concisely. Plus, I've seen simple questions that take multiple requests to be answered. I seriously doubt you'd get a timely response on if you can trust a member on ECC. Searching a user on the forums is painless and I think this post is highly helpful to players wishing to conduct in a transaction.

    The point of this post is not only so that people can search up my name when ever doing a transaction. It is also meant to somewhat eliminate the need for contracts to be made. I want to build a reputation that is strong enough that when dealing with me people won't find it necessary to make contracts, as these are bothersome and take time to make, to sign, and to have a mod approve.

    Why can't they just search the ban appeals and complaints forum instead? Also there's the thread that Glackmore linked to. I would never trust one of these vouch threads.

    If there was a vouch thread for everyone, that would make this forum a mess.
