Many of you know me as _ObsidianMonkey_ in mine craft...... and i have been away from 18th-23rd december for a journey in cambodia, i called it- the mission The tough 5 days were enriching, journeys, peoples, friends, fun, compassion, different thoughts and feelings,i met cambodians that were all poor, none i met was rich, even the most fortunate earned 5 USD a day. surprisingly the people there were nice, joyful, happy, more towards worry free with a life of freedom but also with worries of how they will put food on their table for their next lunch, my journey there was to help the beneficiaries, to carry food from phnom penh to KorKor island, kor kor island was a refuge island where many people lived,we managed to help 90 families, awsome aint it?who is the we....you must be wondering, its my friends and my teachers. i come from the boys brigade, its part of my CCA (co cirriculum activity) in school, preety confusing i know but basically my teachers organized this so that my friends and I can goto cambodia to help the poor. We arrived at Singapore air port on the first day to catch the flight to phnom penh.from there we took a bus ride to a super mart, to buy snacks for the next 5 days in cambodia so we can snack in the hotel or on bus rides, after the shopping we went straight to phnom penh wet market to buy the rice and food items, the atmosphere there was horrible, you cant imagine the bugs and flies everywhere flying around, wet dirty mud grounds, poor haggard people, run downed walls with fungus growing on it already.i complained much there, since i did not know how fortunate i was, i did not put my mind in the cambodians point of views, they were permanat residents there.... me? i was a singaporean, education, good food, a nice cosy home, mac osx comp, everything i need or want is easily mine. it was until when i started helping the cambodians that i knew my life was awesome.after buing the food items we took a boat ride to kor kor island in cambodia,we stayed there for 3 days, our living condition there was not bad compared to the cambodians.we stayed in a school there with our own sleeping bag.the water there was dirty, disgusting, bacteria infected, our teachers bought mineral waters for us to use.i drank alot of water due to the hot weather there.it did not rain in cambodia for 5 days straight i was there too.for the 3 days in cambodia we were there,i helped repairing their run downed homes, giving out the food items and all. the 4th day was the day where the fun began,we went to a hotel,it was called "frangipani". i would say its a 4 star hotel, air con,TV, computer, cosy beds, arm chair, shower heads, clean white toilet bowl.we went shopping at a nearby russian market too, i bought 2 pens for my grandfather,a jack knife for myself (the jack knife was beautiful, it is gray in colour with a shiny silver blade and it was very sharp ) , boys , you know, will buy these stuffs lol.my friends bought the jack knifes too, there was a wide variety. we then proceeded to a dance and buffet for the night and the last day (5th day) we went to ang kor wat and ang kor thom, one of the 7 wonders of the earth, the temples were magnificent, structures and carvings were detailed and preserved nicely, it was amazing how they managed to preserve it to a state where its almost perfect. it was about time we went home after we visited ang kor wat and ang kor thom. I just want to thank god with this story im sharing, because im so fortunate, with luxury items and cosy home, from the bible it says, wealth is giving to one with responsibility, the bible does not tell us to sell all our stuffs to give to the poor but to manage it with responsibility and help the less fortunate. let us all end this with a word of prayer- Dear lord, i want to thank you for giving us, who are reading this story , because we are fortunate, we have a computer, we have a good life, food and all, though we somtimes take things for granted, i wish you forgive us. we end this prayer in jesus most precious name, AMEN.
