INTRODUCTION
Hey everyone! I'm looking for volunteers to help collect data, specifically about how much you earn while mining. I'm hoping to be able to compare different players earnings with different tools (ex: Star Pick, Max Fortune/Silk Touch, Diamond Pickaxe, etc). Currently there is just mostly speculation and conjecture on possible profit you can make while mining with these tools and there hasn't be a concrete answer so far. Hopefully this data will be useful for all players on EcoCityCraft and keep them better informed.
DATA REPORT FORM

Their technique is relevant. As such they should tell us how they mine.

Time of trip: 30 minutes
Tools: eff7 pick, and a fortune3, eff5, unbreak 3
Technique: layer 11, digging in really any direction, but after I find ores, I do a spray circle motion around the ore, which often leads to other ores. I do this until I find no ores in my "spray" motion. Then I start to mine randomly again. I almost always stay on layer 11 until I come across a very mined out area. I move to layer 6, 7, or 8 if I find this. I immediately fortune all coal, lapis, diamond, redstone when i come across them.
Donation Features (highlighted the ones I use while mining): Water, fly+, investigator, multihome, tp, excreations, excmds+
List of Materials Earned: ($ money made selling to server)
- Cobblestone: 23

Interesting @wolfwoodnyo you use pretty much the same technique as me but with an eff7 and make 6k more an hour with ores I assume?

Reposting this here so that it is in one place.

Tools: Eff5Ubr3 Diamond Shovel, Eff5Ubr3Fort3 Diamond Pickaxe
My technique:
I set up a home in front of some chests with mutihome then went to the mining work and set a home where I was mining. I would reset the mining home before going back to the storage area then dump my stuff and go back. As for the actually mining technique I would mine at 11 and since I have the shovel, instead of avoiding the dirt and gravel I know dig through it and in the case of dirt, I recall reading somewhere to break all the dirt you will almost always reveal more ores, so with the shovel being so good I would instantly break dirt so it took barely any time at all to do. Other then that I would dig straight until I either hit a patch of lave and would choose a new random direction, or if I hit an area already mined out area I would move until I can dig into a wall more then 3 away from a tunnel on both sides of the place where I want to start a tunnel.

How Long ago was the reset: 13 Day (I believe this to be useful as we can set up data points for each week and judge if there is a decline in the mining world or if people are simply just crying the sky is falling.
Any other thoughts: Blueberries are pretty good.... Oh about this? Nah. Well... I hate lava and gravel... That's about it. We should also list out mining level at the beginning of the trip. (This section should also have a note for anything that you felt skewed the results of the data.) -

Since I now have 3 data points I will start putting my mining trips into an excel spreadsheet and posting the average yield from the pickaxe as I go although I imagine as I enter more data points the averages wont vary much.

@Minecraftguy65 I value the ores and will be smelting them later. I know I can sell the ores to shops for the same price as the ingots on the server, everything else is server prices.
If you have anymore questions please feel free to message me or @idkhowtoplay. And happy mining :).
@idkhowtoplay I trust this man, so whatever results he gives us as long as he follows the standards we are trying to set up his results will be trustworthy. Hes a friend of mine in-game. -

Don't worry too much of the valuation process! I would appreciate if you could list how much materials you got from mining.
Happy mining! -

This is an interseting idea and would like to participate in the study. I will post results after each mining trip in accordance with the format listed above.

So initial thoughts is eff7 in combination with fort makes twice that of the eff5ubr3fort3 alone. Other thoughts... dang I want an eff7... lol.
