I think you should add another question to the application to make scams less likely: "What do you need the money for?"

If a player says something that clearly is fishy/unrealistic, then it is better to be on the safe side.

Since I have ExtCommands+ I will take great care with it and if at any time I am unable to pay back the amount of 500k, I agree to sell the sword to get the money back to you. I have been playing on ECC for almost 2 years and consider myself a reliable loan-ee.

 

I respectfully disagree with the fact that you must donate 200$.
I realize that you have the opportunity to deny anyone, and that's fine, but I don't think that donating money qualifies you as not being a scammer.

Here's why:

Whether someone is scamming is determined by their dedication to the server. If someone is dedicated, they won't scam a player, especially a moderator.

In this server, dedication is usually seen by people earning the money to donate a lot, which is why a lot of players discriminate against non-donors. But that isn't always the case. I have seen plenty of high donators scam, and I have seen plenty of dedicated players who haven't donated.

I believe dedication is more likely shown in someone's rank, rather than their donations. Would you really rather trust a rich builder who just recently donated 200$, or an ecoleader who hasn't donated at all? To me, donations only determine wealth in real life or on the server. Even then, if a person is rich on the server, they wouldn't be as in need of a loan as a poor player, right?

Another reason you shouldn't be worried about scamming, even from the lowest of low, is because you are a moderator yourself. I doubt anyone at all would ever scam someone as high ranked as you are. Even if they did, it wouldn't be too hard to report, because the rest of the staff does trust you.


A few things I should mention about this post:

• I realize I haven't donated yet. I didn't plan on buying a loan, so it's not like I wanted one and I'm just angry that I can't because of donations.
• I also know that I have bias because I am a lower rank of the server. But believe me, I would have the same opinion even at a higher rank.
• This wasn't meant to rage at you, or even make you change your mind on how you run your loan service. I only was trying to prove that donations isn't really the best way to determine dedication to the server. Time spent on it is.
