Minecraft Name: Baccuus Suggestion: Well, ive been looking through the "Report a player" thread and i saw a lot of complaints regrading "hacking." I just wanted to introduce the idea Screensharing the suspect's version folder to see if they have any hacked clients installed. I've seen this done in other servers such as *Mod Edit* and *Mod Edit* and what you do is implement a pugin which freezes the suspect and it tells them to go into teamspeak, it also gives a warning not to log out or they will be banned, then a staff member can screenshare and check if the suspect is hacking. Reason: I believe that hackers do roam this server and this just makes it easier for staff to decide if a player is hacking or not. Other Information: DISCLAIMER: I AM IN ANY WAY,SHAPE OR FORM TRYING TO MAKE THIS SERVER INTO A HCF SERVER. Link to this plugin/Is this a custom addition?: https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/freezeplugin-1-8.7204/ I found this one but i don't know much about plugins (dont know if this will help lol)
I believe this method to be impossibly intrusive. ECC is NOT a competitive pvp environment like the servers you listed. But even then, one of the better servers I've played on does not use this method.(<<Mod Edit>>) Besides, it's way too easy to hide this. I know a few clients that let you completely hide their UI and disable their cheats so your client looks completely like a normal client. It's a waste of time.
I agree with you about the hidding of clients, but you cannot hide the files in the versions folder. And unless you log out and close your minecraft screen the files are impossible to remove.
You can easily rename the whole thing to say "forge 1.8.8" or something before even starting up the client.
Those have to be renamed along with the folder, otherwise it won't even work. I just quickly renamed a client to 1.8-Forge11.14.3.1530 Can you still safely say this is a hacking client? Because I sure wouldn't be able to tell.
Staff won't ban you for having a hacked client - They will only ban you for using one on ECC. Anyway, this is completely intrusive and a waste of time. Not to mention the large possibility of numerous false bans. -1
On line 177 -- you see that comma? That's hacks. Anyway, I don't like this idea at all. If you believe someone is hacking, go download bandicam and record them. I don't see the need in spending lots of time and recources editing and creating rules, sections on the forums, the actual plugin itself, training staff on how to use it, etc. when you can just allow the players to do the work. -1 for me.
-1 Pointless, as a person can easily delete the client when you request to screenshare. Also some people might not have/use skype or be willing to share their screen with anyone else.
-1 I have huzzuni on my computer I just don't use it on ecc and I won't wanna be banned for that. Maybe making people screen shot their f3 would work but that's all I can think of.
-1 totally disagree with this, for all I trust staff, I wouldn't want to share my screen with them, what if you have something private? Not to mention the fact that if you didn't you would be banned. What if we had a ban happy mod who just said to everyone, show me your mods folder or I ban you? The way it is at the moment is fine. Download bandicam, record your video and post a complaint. If it takes up your memory, just delete it after. Also, as kuke said it's far too easy for the folder to be changed/hidden. -1
