I think that we should be able to do /bal [username]. This would help because nobody would have to ask mod to say there balance in global. It would reduce spam and save mods time. Also it could reduce a little bit of scamming bc say I'm selling somebody a melon sword. I could do /bal [username] and see they only have 3$ and know they are about to scam me. I don't see a down side to this.

the down side to this is that a player could see how rich a player is, and then beg them for money. It promotes even more spam in the console since the richest player would always get people begging for money.

If you guys were meant to see each other's balances with a quick /bal then the staff wouldn't be under orders to not give out balance information without the balance owner's permission...

I don't like the idea of any user just looking at my balance it's my business and none of yours. :p

Maybe this idea would work, but instead of finding out a balance immediately, the owner has to /balaccept to allow the person to see it.

This is a game but people might still not like sharing their money since it's not your business like how it would be rude to ask someone in real life about how much they earn and ect.

If they could implement a system where the user would have to agree to share their balance this could be useful. When trading a high value item you could ask the other person to show you that they have the money to pay for it.-

If it is a high value item: Place it in a donation chest so the buyer can see the item they are buying, begin screenshots, and then have them pay you. Then modify the chest so they can get the item.
No risk. No "throwing an item". No need for /bal check.-

Can't see the problem with access to baltop tbh.

I don't see the need for this. Knowing the balance of a player has no bearing on their ability to pay for an item. You either receive payment or you don't. Also, how can someone scam you if they don't have enough money? Wouldn't you get the payment before giving them the item? I don't know about any of you, but I would never say, "Here, take my melon sword, then pay for it afterwards." If you are that naive to give someone a high priced item without receiving payment first, then you are just asking to be scammed.

Pat please don't post in all caps, it is against the forum rules.
Also, players having access to baltop is a hole other can of worms. The staff are suppose to use /baltop sparingly because it causes lag when used frequently...hmm... how often do you think a player would use that command? -
LaBelleDame BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Tycoon ⚜️⚜️⚜️
I guess most people would be interested to see the top 10 and much less interested in anything below that.
Maybe an experiment is possible to test it? Has one been done before? If it causes a lot of lag then of course it is a bad idea.
Having said that, this facility is not an uncommon one as far as I know.
I can see that bal (player name) has some potential downsides. -

Everytime /baltop gets typed the server has to order and count thousands of balances. That causes lag. There has been testing done with a similar command /mctop. Does the same thing just with mcmmo stuff. When released to the players it crashed the server. -

If that happened then its a bad idea bettter not try it again. -

What about a command to show someone your balance instead of someone requesting to see your's.
Say you have that big cash transaction and want to make sure or whatever. Ask them to show their balance and they would do something like '/mybal [username]' to show it to that person.
