Minecraft Name: ModernPerils Suggestion: Set up a poll that only people with kits can vote in to see who wants to give up there kits for the greater good. Reason: Since almost all of the other SG suggestions haven't worked out based upon the assuming that people would be unhappy due to loss of kits, we need a way to find who is OK with giving up their kit. If the result is that 50% or more want to give up kits, kits go. If more than 50% vote to keep kits, then we keep kits. Other Information: Just thought it was an OK idea. Link to this plugin: N/A
I think that the best way to handle codes would be to have a thread where you apply for the coupon codes and you could pick how much you want on the coupon.
+1 If you want to see my reasons why, look at all the other sg kits threads. I don't feel like saying the exact same thing again
The issue with this is... that's a ton of money refunded (most likely tens of thousands of dollars). If everyone has coupon codes, nobody will actually donate and then there will be less money (possibly not enough) to run the server.
Instead of removing kits all at once, what if we removed 2-3 kits every month? One month we'd remove a very popular kit, a somewhat popular kit, and a non-popular kit. 10 thousand dollars is a lot to refund, but if we break it done into small segments, I think it will work out. What I think we should do is open applications so that you can apply for a coupon code equal to the amount of kits you have. Every player who has bought kits in the last year and a half isn't going to apply at the same time. A good portion of them won't apply at all. Only the active players are going to be refunded. This is an issue, but it is a 100% worth it for the long run. There may be some issues such as this one short term, but we'll make it through it. EDIT: We could even keep a few kits like adventure, scavenger, and adventurer. Imo, these kits aren't too deadly against non kit users and they just add a new unique style of play, rather than an op sword or strength potions.
I'm all for what Dumdum said. I don't think that the whole "50% vote" thing is a good idea though. Even if 51% of the people say yes, that still leaves a lot of folks out in the cold. Make it more like 75% at least.
I'd also like to point out that the votes don't represent the entire population of ECC. It represents the votes of the players with forum accounts that are also active on the forums. This leaves out a lot of builders that I would assume would vote yes.
Kits in general are one of the stupidest additions to ECC ever. So many new players are driven away because they get insta-killed by some random player with buffer + sword. Spy too. Just get rid of them please.
Also, there are thousands of dollars in an account backed up for the server to run off of. There is no reason to worry.
If that is the case (Now, I don't know the server fiance) then its true it would be no problem, but still tapping in to the emergency funds AND getting rid of a huge income could result to be quite disastrous
I highly doubt kits are a large source of income anymore. In reality, the best idea would be to slowly remove some of the kits each month, as suggested above so that funds could be monitored continually.
@nicit6 is there anyway to see what people have donated for? Can we track if people still buy kits? Because if they don't @dumdum71 and @SKSoccer have made fantastic suggestions
