Yes, there are cases where some servers have forwarded the hackers information to the local police department and arrests have been made. Keep in mind that VPN services provide protection for data thru encryption mainly and even they have logs that are accessible to authorities with a warrant.
I am still not sure why you are so interested in hacking and punishments but you should be aware - everything we do is logged or tracked and it is possible that server owners may choose to expend the resources necessary to have a person punished.
The ECC Wiki has a lot of information on how to have fun on this server without hacking, scamming, or trolling.

 

I don't really know why you're so into this stuff, but you're getting this wrong. They aren't talking about people who use hacked clients or anything like that; that happens everyday. They're talking about people who try to gain control or take down the server by hacking it.

 

yes hackers should be jailed.Because A. They could stalk you and steal your ID 2 illegal things. B. Steal your account that you spent money on. So that will also put heat on the owner cause you paid lots of money for donations and he won't refund you even thought your account has been hacked. C. You could die of bordum or Stress. There are many types of hackers the good and the bad the dumb and the smart. how to spot a good hacker: He is giving you money on gta5 and Ecc B. giving you free stuff C. God modding you. Modders can do the same but higher risk of getting caught and banned however its not illegal for them to do it.

 

Hackers arrested? Doubtful. Most server owners are not going to take the time and resources necessary to go thru the court system. It is much simpler for them to contact their alien buddies and have the felon removed from the planet and relocated to a non internet planet since they are obviously not able to play nice here on Earth.
