What is your Minecraft username?: KMaxwell What are your in-game ranks?: Patron, EcoMaster, VIP+ How old are you?: 34 When did you join EcoCityCraft?: July 2012 What time-zone are you in?: EST What time of the day do you usually play?: This varies, both depending on work, IRL commitments and so on. My general working hours are Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat from 12:30pm-10:30pm, but I can be on the forums at this time for some moderation if required. Generally speaking I can play at the following times: Sunday: 1pm-1am Monday: 11pm-1am Tuesday: 11pm-3am Wednesday: 1pm-3am Thursday: 1pm-5pm & 10pm-1am Friday: 11pm-1am Saturday 11pm-1am After April I will no longer have some commitments, freeing up more time on Sundays and Thursdays. Main Questions In your opinion, what is the purpose of Moderators on EcoCityCraft? Why do you want to be a Moderator?: The staff of ECC, coming from its community, are the best representations of it... they are the ones that can be turned to for help and I would like to put my years of ECC experience to work benefiting the community. Do you have any experience in moderating Xenforo forums or Minecraft servers? Provide links if possible: Yes, prior experience moderating ECC's forum specifically. How have you been helping the community grow bigger and better? How will you help the server once you are a Moderator? I've tried to bring my friends to the server, and bring old friends back. Some I've introduced have never left, and of those, several have been on Staff and helped to keep ECC being what it is. I'd like to continue the traditions of ECC, in its fairness, its friendly nature, and competitive player marketplace. The staff team is always changing and improving. If you become a staff member, what is one thing you would like to change about the staff team? I'm not sure that I would change anything at the moment. A review of the existing moderation policies is already underway, from what I understand from current posts to the forum. I need to learn how the team works now before I could suggest improvements or outright changes. EcoCityCraft gets a lot of Moderator applications. What specifically do you think puts you above the other applicants?: I am a mature, longstanding member of ECC, and I'd like to think I am respected or trusted by most. I don't say what I don't mean, keep my word or explain why, and am willing to learn from the mistakes I make. Why do you think that you will not be picked? What do you need to improve on?: I do need to be more talkative in general, to do a little less of my own thing in order to ensure I am accessible to the community should they need someone to talk to. My manner of speaking as well can be intimidating, that is something I will need to work on. Hypothetical Questions: Please keep in mind that hypotheticals are not “right/wrong” answer questions. This is to explore how you would handle various situations. A new player logs in and is confused about what ECC is, and what they should do. What would be your concise answer to their question? I would explain that ECC is a multifaceted server with a player based economy and several game modes to appeal to everyone. Visiting the tutorial would also be recommended, and I would teleport them there if they wanted to check it out. A builder has been persistently posting trade ads into trade chat. The ads aren't going too quickly according to the rules, however many players are complaining in global chat. How do you approach the players in global? I would advise that the adverts are within allowed limits, and remind the players complaining about how to leave trade in order not to see the posts any further. A handful of Builders have logged on and begun to play SG. After a bit, a Mayor joins them. After the game, the Builders begin to accuse the Mayor of hacking, and the Mayor accuses the others of boosting. How would you approach the situation? I would ask the Builders why they think the Mayor was hacking, it is possible they are not aware of SG Kits, and this can be easily explained to resolve the situation. Otherwise, I would advise on the proper forum complaint process, and advise them to ask my further about that privately rather than continue any accusations in Global chat. A player you've never heard of begins to advertise that they're selling features. Another staff member says in global that it's probably a scam. How do you handle the situation? This I would immediately screenshot and forward to the SA+ team to review as it is not proper staff conduct, not even in jest, and more so if they meant it. Privately to them I would also suggest they apologize, to difuse the situation they created before it possibly gets worse. Former Staff Questions (If you have never been on the staff team, you may leave these questions blank) When were you last on the staff team and how long were you a staff member? I have been on the staff team twice. The first time I reached GA rank, and left the team in March of 2014. The second time was only as Moderator from January to April of 2015. What was your highest rank on the staff team? Highest ever was GA. What was your favorite part about being a staff member for EcoCityCraft? I liked that people would most actively come to me for help, and would know that I would do my best to help them. If you were to return to the staff team, what would you do differently? As it has been two years I would have to learn everything from the ground up, to be without preconception about how things used to be moderated in order to learn what needs to be done now. I'd like to think I would try to be more open, more approachable, and more involved with the community, both in game and on the forum. Other Questions Do you consider yourself a risk taker?: Yes, but not impulsively so. Do you consider yourself a leader?: There are times to lead, other times to follow... the trick is knowing the difference. Leading can be as simple as guiding a discussion, organizing an event, or even just being an example by how you say things or the way you do them. How do you manage stress?: I have online de-stress activities, as well as offline ones. A long bath... I also crochet, as crafting and the act of making something is a good way to feel positive and accomplished... I go bowling twice a week... and online, I play games like Ark, Diablo3 and SWTOR. I also find fishing on ECC very relaxing. Finally, is there anything else you would like to add?: I would appreciate any honest feedback, from anyone, positive or negative. That's the only way I can improve.
