I feel as though any good economy should have a stock market. The server can make a plugin that has these buyable stocks with no physical evidence but people can buy and sell them with randomly changing prices. Maybe even, when it becomes night the prices will stand still like a real stock market and start changing back when the sun rises again. I hope that you take this into consideration. -Ayakben
Will this just be random stocks or actual companies in ECC? Overall, this seems very confusing and difficult to implement here in ECC. I like the suggestion, but, it will not happen. -1
There's been a lot of companies that are created by people that have the concept of a stock exchange, but it's impossible to control on such a large scale, and without andrew implementing it, it's probably not going to happen. -1
I Agree with both Knears and Dccciz. I've wanted this implemented for a while but I don't see it happening with no real businesses with available stock, its just to hard to keep track of it all.
This has to be the hundredth time I've seen this suggested and it's never been added. If the first several dozen attempts fail what makes you think thus one will pass? -1
I personally think a stock market could be fun, however to my knowledge there are no actively developed stock market plugins (that are even opensource) that we could even being to ponder over. The only suggestion that I can see that may be possible was from a fellow that was trying to make a stock market that used data from real world markets as data. The main problem with this is that due to server rules, there is no way to ensure that people aren't scammed, and that there is money for this type of stuff. In my mind, the only way for that to work without problems is if a paper work system was setup with guidelines and rules, insured by andrews unlimited balance, and carried out by staff.
All though the concept of a stock market may seen pretty cool, there is a very easy way to bypass it, which is illegal in the US. You simply get a group of players and you all buy one specific stock at a low price. Causing the value of said stock to increase. Then all the players sell the stock all at the same time. Causing more supy than demand when it comes to ecd. Causing inflations and jagged like prices for everyday items. Not to include you may barrow stocks at a low price, when they increase sell them, then when there cheap buy them back and return those of which you have barrowed. Understanding how the economy works is hard enough on new player. To add stocks into the whole sceam of things would cause mass confusion, for stocks are also very difficult to fully comprehend. Adding to consideration, there are roughly 400-600 actual active player on ecc (I think, could be wrong), so if a player were to buy one stock, the price would automatically increase and said player could just sell that item and have a money maker right there.
That isn't really a reason to -1 it. To be honest, although I would love the idea of a stock market, it would end up spawning in too much money if it were modeled after real stocks and real stock prices. That being said, if it were completely user-user with user-made companies, it would be very difficult to police these companies, and their payouts, etc. Probably a nightmare for staff, who already work their butts off (staff if im wrong correct me on that ) And all around difficult for Andrew and Khobbs. I wont -1 this, because I want it. However I wont +1 it either, simply due to all the difficulties involved.
Because I don't feel like rewriting this: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/stock-market.84505/#post-414489
