Let me point out the interesting part that got me to respond in that way:

To hunt means to pursue, trap, or kill. I understand that you assume I meant kill, however that is not the case.

krimsonphoenix BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Resident ⚒️Spawners are not free income. Farming XP is incredibly boring. So farming XP costs time.
-
krimsonphoenix BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Resident ⚒️True, but for some of us, it is worth more. I abhor XP farming because it is just so boring.
-
For some people it isn't boring at all. I mean, you can just sit at your spawner doing absolutely nothing whilst you are watching youtube, playing Ps3 (or XBOX). Basically, you could be doing WHATEVER you'd want while AFKing at the spawner and you would just have to come back every so often, click your mouse a few times and there you go. You have money.

i got another triple spider spawner today
-
krimsonphoenix BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Resident ⚒️You're talking about the ones who set up the spawn so the monsters die immediately and you just sit there collecting XP, right?
-
I believe iorbit is referencing where you afk, and wait for a large number of mobs to spawn and get trapped, then kill them all at once, and repeat. You can't set up a spawner to kill monsters without player interaction and still drop xp, that's not how minecraft works. And, hypothetically, if you could, it'd be illegal anyway. -
krimsonphoenix BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Resident ⚒️OK, well that wasn't what I meant. I was actually referring to standing near a spawner and killing off what it spawns. That is boring, and I just can't bring myself to do it.
Wait...Setting up the afk spawners is illegal? I didn't know that... -
Setting up AFK spawners isn't illegal, where did you get that from? I suggest you go ahead and read the rules to refresh your mind (http://www.ecocitycraft.com/wiki/index.php?title=Server_Rules)
Anyways, killing mobs without it being automated mob hoarding is unefficient. Killing them without it being a grinder isn't even worth your time. Unless it is blaze. Other than that, you should ALWAYS set-up AFK spawners, otherwise just don't bother using a spawner at all. -

Enchanting is getting nerfed in 1.8. You still need 30 levels to use high level enchants, but it will only take two to three from you when you enchant the tool. It will also take a few pieces of lapis, but lapis will be more common. That is probably a long way off though.
-
I don't think Lapis needs to be more common (and I didn't read that it would be either), but it isn't really a nerf from what I understand.
In any event, I am still breaking spawners... but in the wild. lol-

I don't do afk (tbh, I cant see the difference between this and automated farming).
So I active kill and collect exp, which timewise is faster than afk (but afk people are doing something else so don't care that it is slower).
Anyway I said all along the posse just wasting THEIR time and the exp market continues to prove me right -
floffle123 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️Well you could have said it differently but it is a good idea. I mean if you leave the spawners up then you can get even more experience by killing the mobs that come out. :)

Option A: You leave the spawner up and collect the experience.
Option B: You break the spawner making it so it never makes exp again.
Why pick option B over option A? Well you said you can make experience off the mob spawner. Experience can then be sold for money, correct? Well the issue there is a basic economics issues: Supply and demand. If the supply available is higher than the demand of the people for the product then the price will plummet. Yet, if the demand is higher than the supply available then the price will skyrocket.
Essentially what I'm say is this: People break spawners to increase the player to player cost of experience.-
