Minecraft Name: FuryFudge Suggestion: That you are able to apply to remove /owns from both permabanned players or players that have been inactive for more than [X] amount of time. It might work like the Town Claim system for example. Reason: Because there are a lot of tools out there which would be nice to own, that belonged to permabanned/inactive players. Other Information: This is just a suggestion to see if/how it would work. Link to this plugin/Is this a custom addition?: N/A
-1 /own is, and always should be, a permanent marking of a tool --- all arguments for the ability to request an /own removal are likely for personal gain.
Can't you just die with it in your inventory and pick it up again and the /own is removed? Only the unique ID will remain and any perma'd or missing players are unlikely to reclaim it like that. And besides, having the /own of another player really only affects your ability to rent it out or auction it, you can still use it.
The '/own' only removes on death if you're the owner of the '/own'. Say for example you were to die with my eff7 then the own would remain however if I was to die with it, it'd be removed. As for this suggestion, I'm on the verge of agreeing and disagreeing with it seeing as the main reason why we have a '/own' feature is to ensure that you're able to track & locate your items in the case that it is lost/stolen. Surely this would mean that regardless of how long you're offline, you should always have the ability to reclaim your belongings? On the other hand, say for example you're sharing a star tool with another user, and the user that has the '/own' is perma banned or all of a sudden goes inactive and you're unable to remove the own; as ooot has said, with the own remaining on the item, this would seriously decrease the value of it and possibly cause problems when trying to resell or rent it out. EDIT: Possibly adding something to enable you to use some sort of claim (like a town claim) to claim/remove the '/own' from an item as long as a specific criteria is met (The user having been offline for 6 months+). This could either come with something like a rank (i.e Tycoon+) or there could be an application that you fill in and pay for.
