Thread Title:
Ability (Option) to add a 2nd owner to a the spawn shops
Minecraft Name:
THCOOL
Suggestion:
My suggestion is that we should have the ability to add a 2nd owner to our market shop. Kind of like how we have the ability to add a co-mayer to our towns except this will only be limited to 2 total owners.
Reason:
I would really like the see this implimented simply because this would allow the formation of partnerships! I see plenty of people on the server that have business partners that share everything..... except a spawn shop. Shops are the pinnacle of trading and I think its essential to be able to have the option of 2 players running a single shop rather than just one. We see all the time that many shops die out simply because the owner cannot keep up with their stock or they go inactive for a small bit and cannot keep up with the demand. I believe that the ability to add a 2nd owner would fix this. Shops would be stocked more often and I believe this could actually help revive the market a little bit. This would also encourage more partnerships which is basically more player to player interaction.
Now the only opposition I can think of this would be that people want to stay the sole owner of a shop or are worried of players messing up the shop. My only response to that is that then they don't have to add a 2nd owner, simple as that. This suggestion is so that we have the OPTION to add a 2nd owner if we wish to. If the owner of a shop knows that they will be leaving town for a while, then they should have the option to add a 2nd owner to run the shop while they're gone so that the shop doesn't take a hit and trading doesn't stop. This keeps things going and makes sure money is flowing which is key to a healthy economy.
Finally, the only issue I see myself is that there is no way to share trade signs. What is the point of sharing a shop if you cant share trade signs and refill another users signs? Well I don't have an immediate answer to that, however I have seen a few co-run shops and they simply split the items that each user sells. For ex) 1 user sells all the ores and the other user sells all the logs and stone etc... They're many options and ways that 2 owners can figure out what to do
Other Information:
Im not sure if there is a way to allow players to add owners themselves. I would have to ask a mod.
If not, then I would suggest a simple application on the forums to add a 2nd owner
Also, to help prevent some scams, I suggest making it states the shop owner and any co-owner. That way the co-owner cannot do anything such as sell the shop without the owners consent
Example application:
1) IGN:
2) Current Spawn Shop Number:
3) Current Spawn Shop Owner:
4) Player being added as Co-Owner:

+100,
I know this will not be added as I believe it was rejected in the past?
But I would really love to be able to do this! :D -
Questions.
1. Who would be responsible for paying the shop rent? The original owner, or both owners? If the main owner, see 1.1.
1.1. What if the main owner does not pay the rent and the shop is cleared? What rights does the second owner have in this case?
2. What would happen to the second player's trade signs if they are inactive and thus not informed of the station sale? They would lose their signs.
2.1. Who would receive the money from a station sale? Would the co-owner have any rights?
3. How would the removal of one owner by the other be handled?
3.1. Would there be a way to end the partnership, or would it be permanent?
4. How would the mixing of trade sign owners be handled in the shop - would everybody get their own side, or would they just place them anywhere? In this case, what if one player takes over larger parts of the shop or blocks the other player's trade signs in the back by adding better deals in front or just physically blocking the way to them? How would this be handled in a complaint?-

2) If the second player becomes inactive and the original owner decides to sell the station then that is there own fault. I will add however that in order to transfer shops, we should add it to where you have to have the consent of BOTH owners and not just one. If a secondary owner is inactive and the original owner is unable to contact them, then I think we should add a 2-3 week inactivity rule for shop owners. Just as towns have a minimum of 7 days inactivity before you can file lc's.... 2nd shop owners should have 2-3 weeks I think but this is open for discussion.
2.1) All of this can simply be worked out between the 2 owners in-game. If they sell their station to another player than they can work out a deal themselves just as we would with a single owner.
3) I believe that only the secondary owner can be removed and not the original owner. This would prevent people without a shop to partner up with an already established shop and then take it over. To make it official, I would suggest perhaps adding a shop eviction thread where players can file it their and make it easy.
3.1) As I stated in a previous question, its a partnership between the 2 players and not the server. Let them handle it and negotiate it. They can make contracts themselves binding them together like how people do with star tools. This is a business lol..... let the 2 owners handle it themselves and if they cannot then they should not be partners its as simple as that.
4) Once again, this would vary with every shop/partnership because it is all up to them. The server/admins should not regulate how shops would be split up. The 2 owners should have discussed their own contract and details before they agreed to partner up and co-own a shop. Lassez Faire economics.... let the business/shop owners decide this for themselves and run things as their own way. If you need an example though, I saw a few co-owned shops that weren't in the spawn market where the players simply split up who sold what. for example player 1 would handle all the mining goods in the shop while player 2 would handle all the building/farming goods. Let the players get creative and figure it out themselves -

This has been asked for before and the issues are just too many to justify it.
If this is truly your desire, set up a town shop (very easy with warp available to everyone now) and do this on your own. -

+1 Should be added. Any reasons I can think of against this could be fixed by added a second owner who is your friend and you trust. If you can't think of anyone you trust, don't have a second owner. I think it's pretty simple.

+1 But instead of having 2 owners of a shop, make the applicant the actual owner via staff using the command (/rg addowner station 1 a18greek18) for example. The shop owner must still pay for the shop and its extensions, but they would have the ability to add members. I'd also suggest having a rule that states "The original shop owner may add up to 2 additional members to their shop to assist with sales. However having 3+ members added to the shop is illegal because Staff manually remove players when shops expire."

and another suggestion in which she states it has been suggested even before that:

I am not saying that I disagree, I am just saying it has been suggested several times and there are reasons why it has not been implemented. I would also think that the hub has been much more important and that this may be better suggested after that is complete. -

If we were to add this here how I imagine doing this:
Both players on the shop would file a trade-shop app, and both players would each have to pay their own 5k rent. There would be a mark to confirm sharing the shop.
The 5k a week ensures neither player can lose out because the other player forgot to pay - if one forgets and is removed, it becomes the sole shop of the remaining player.
However this does have a catch that anyone wishing to use this would need to be aware of: neither player would hold a controlling share of the shop on the server end. This means if there are issues etc neither player can forcibly remove the other. As with current shops, either owner could waive their rental and be removed - however this could only be done by the player themself. -
I dont think it should be 5k/week per owner as that would make 40k total per 4 weeks minimum per shop and i personally think that we already have too much money being taken out by the server. Also why would players pay the same $ to share a shop and not have total control when they could get their own for the same amount? This is designed to promote partnering and for that reason i think we should keep it at 20k total (10k each). Just my thoughts and opinions doesnt mean im right :p -
