It's shouts that are annoying. Ever heard a shout you actually wanted to hear? Didn't think so.

 

But how would bold make it more annoying?

 

Because bold is intended to make it more noticeable.

 

Shouts are intended to be noticeable. Bold isn't going to affect that.

 

If it won't affect it, what's the point of this suggestion in the first place. It's being suggested with a higher price to be more noticeable and to get whoever shouts their point across a bit clearer. Well, chat formatting is a thing that already exists in shouts. bold was only removed because of an exploit that would crash people's clients back on 1.7.3. The suggestion is basically just asking for bold back. Removing something because of a bug, and then adding it back when the bug is fixed is only natural.

Why don't we give users the option to shout in bold? For example, a normal shout: /shout Hi!, then a bold shout: /shout bold Hi! Or something along those lines. I don't mind shouts, I don't see any problems with adding some bold text.

 

why separate when you can just use '&l'?
