Suggestion:
Allow Mayors+ to apply for child regions within towns of which they are the original owner.
Reason:
We have many impressive builds and some well crafted towns on this server. Over my soon to be 3 years on the server, I have seen many new players looking for a themed town to live in. Some want to live in a city, others a medieval village. What most are offered is plot towns. They aren't trusted enough to not grief, so they are housed in what I see as the most ascetically abhorrent areas on the server.
Having child regions within a town would allow the mayors to add players without worry of widespread grief. Those added to the child region can only alter the child region (the same as those with perms to spawn statues, spawn shops, etc.). Towns like Epicure, Tauron, Lancaster, or Ascension could sell homes in these areas without worry of the high value materials being stolen from the rest of the town or the whole town being damaged.
Towns could divide the services they sell. They could have multiple child regions and sell access to each separately. This would allow them to sell plots, shops, and farm perms independently, knowing the residents can't use a service for which they didn't pay.
Any Other Information:
- The application process can follow that of the current PVP Area.
- A limit should be placed on the number of child regions per town; one per plot is unnecessary. Five per town should suffice, but this is obviously flexible.
Please discuss and add your input to these points.
- The price should be more attainable than the $40,000 for a PVP Area. Perhaps, $25,000 or $30,000.

Title changed to [Suggestion] Add Child Regions to Towns

+1, though I don't necessarily agree with the limit. Like pvp areas, which are unlimited, these should be unlimited as well (If people want to waste 20-40k per plot for some reason, I don't see why not).

$25,000 sounds like the ideal price.
And the great thing is that this is already in place (PVP areas, spawnstatues)
They gotta add this. -
I thought this as well myself initially. However, I was curious as to how the regions will be named. If we just go with numbers like the spawn statues, it is no issue. If we allow players to pick the name, such as Town ---> TownFarm, it may get a bit messy to ensure the name wasn't previously used.
It might help to get feedback on the two options and player's preferences.
- Lancaster (town name), lancasterpvp (as it would appear for a pvp area), lancaster1, lancaster2, etc. for the child regions

Are u suggesting the child regions to cost 30k for a single one? With a town consisting of dozens of plots, that would be insanely expensive
-
This isn't meant to be towny. It is meant to provide the option to subdivide a town into multiple regions; such as a farm, new player housing, housing for older more trustworthy players.
I would like to avoid 1 region per plot by limiting their number.-

This is a great idea it might be a little tricky to implement but if it could be but in as easily as PvP areas $25k sounds good and 5 is a good max.

The child regions /Warp Hubroom, Starcasino, Redhall1, Redhall2 were all made on a whim and auctioned by andrewkm. It took seconds.

Thanks @LJKAzrael, I really hope this gets implemented!

I think the pricing would need a bit of tweaking. I'd like something like $1/block protected, minimum of 10k blocks. (that's a 100x100x1 area for example)

Seems very reasonably priced and limits it from protecting too many regions in one town.
Just as the PVP area is a limited cuboid and doesn't necessarily extend to bedrock and the build limit, neither would these regions. Would the $1/block be calculated as the area X time Z or would it include elevation Y in the cost equation as well? If yes, would the elevation count toward the 10k block minimum?
If elevation counts toward the 10k block minimum, a 7x6 plot from bedrock to the sky limit would contain 10,710 block. This would allow players to protect 986 regions per town. I think a hard limit is needed just to prevent people from attempting to bend or flout the rules.
$1/block protected may become very expensive very fast if elevation is included in the cost. With a typical build limit of 10-15 blocks high and 10 blocks down for a basement, $10,000 (10k block protected) would cover 22 square blocks at 10+10 blocks of elevation protected or only 17 square blocks at 15+10 blocks of elevation protected.
Perhaps the best solution would be size restrictions, a hard limit on the number of child regions per town. As far as cost is concerned, I am very open to any ideas. -
KingCharlie9 EcoPremiumPrestigeLegendTycomasterBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeWhy charge on the Y?- This would make the prices horrible.
Also a minimum of a 100x100 area is half a 200x200 town. Maybe make the minimum 50x50? -
100x100x1 or 10,000 blocks. He suggested a 10,000 block protection minimum, not a 100x100 area (100x100x1 was simply an example). Any cuboid comprising 10,000 blocks would meet the minimum requirement (50x50x4 ; 25x25x16).
The most popular price of $25,000 would allow the protection of approximately 29x29x29 at the $1/block price. (If you have trouble visualizing this I made one. It is very large, but two may be needed to protect most mansions I have seen (meaning $50,000; almost on par with the current cost of the child region made from PVP Areas). -

This is perhaps one of the best suggestions that I've read in a long time. I, as the owner of both Epicure and Lancaster, have always wanted a way to make sections of my cities that are more accessible, but the grief risk has forced me to deny access to most players. This would revolutionize towns on ECC.

+1 Great idea, and stops griefers almost completely in their tracks. My only question is if you'd be able to change the flags in these regions.
