Minecraft Name: FuryFudge Suggestion: That instead of our current auction system which (in my opinion, is a bit spammy) we have an auction house. Basically an inventory where you can see items listed by other users for a specific price. Kinda like this: The plugin usually allots a specific amount of time a item will be listed up, say 24 hours. Also, I'm pretty sure the plugin can be configured that different ranks can only list up a specific amount of items, which would help against people spamming useless items or for ridiculous prices. So, for example 1 for Builder, 3 for Resident and 5 for Mayor etc. Reason: I think that this system is a lot more comprehensive and effective than our current auction system and allows for more than one item to be auctioned at a time, as well as creating absolutely no chat. Other Information: N/A Link to this plugin/Is this a custom addition?: N/A
Seems like a cool idea, I like it. +1 With the current auction system, it's so spammy (even when most of the messages are disabled) that I just leave it and never attempt to make use of it.
Only way this would occur is if the server took tax from us for having these auctions I would say 10% which would never happen because this server is full of people who save every penny. If that didn't occur this is probably the worst idea possible. We have spawnshops for a reason if you want to sell something buy a spawnshop and put it there. By making an auction house it would fuck up the market even more which up until this point I didn't know was possible.
This. Or another idea could be that you would have to pay a monthly fee of (20k) and would only have a max listing of say 10 items. This still puts an advantage to having shops, but the auction house could help out users who may not have enough for the weekly rental fee.
theres a small problem though. Its not an auction... its a market being shown. Pay this amount to get this item. What part of an auction is that? how do you BID on it? :/
Well it is because of how economies work. The prices of items are based of the need/supply of an item. Need is how much/what people want while supply is how much people have out for sale. For instance Sea lanterns are expensive since aesthetically they are quite pretty and therefore useful in builds and are hard to come by since block shop sells it super expensive and are rare sometimes impossible to find in the wild "if by chance no sea temple appears then it will be impossible". Now you maybe asking "how does it affect a auction house" well this "auction house (The one shown and other auction house are pretty much player listing items for sale idk why it is called a auction house) gives people the ease of grabbing whatever item they need that players may supply without having to go find the deal/item. It also lets the seller to host item sales without having a shop wether it be at spawn shops which many players may see or at their own place/warp where people may see. If any person can Supply items means that the need for items will go down since they are being fulfilled and create unnecessary competition which will deflate prices of items. A true auction house should be like an ebay where you list a item for let says 3 days and it should be bid on. The server will then take a tax on the item and the rest of the value will be given to the seller and the item to the winning bid. Only problem with this is the regular auction is quick so little delay between placement and sale and most bids for ebay are last second or early incase people may not notice it/wont be online for final bids. Any case this "auction house" is not necessary and I personally propose either the server to host a ad plugin where you can host ads that can be viewed with a command or ads at spawn like I heard they used to.
But as I suggested, they will only be allowed to list a few items, a spawnshop can list basically an unlimited amount of items. Unless the plugin is configured to have the different items sorted into categories, you will still have to look for the deal within the auction house, I think the items are usually sorted into which listing is expiring the soonest. Also, most people don't know what "a deal" is and will probably refer to the spawnshops to see if the item in the auction house is, in fact, cheaper. It's basically tiny "shops" for everyone where they can sell a small amount of items that are available to everyone quite easily. So the supply will not increase significantly. If there is a problem with the economy, which I don't think there should be, then maybe have it that only enchanted items can be sold?
Thing is that it is the ease of access/lack of advertisement that makes it a problem to the economy. If a person can just go to the plugin and find the item they want for a prices that is barely more then the price the server buys it for then why bother going to spawn shops or player shops. Also A. Most auction plugins allow you to sort through what item/item types you need. B. The mere fact that it exsist will drive its own competition. C. a "deal" is how much the server sells (block shops)/ buys them for and then factor in rarity and how easy/hard it would be to obtain item. So essentially with a "auction house" is the same amount of exposure a spawn shop would give you plus the ease of a command.
This. The problem with chat auctions is that they're spammy and everyone ignores them, and the problem with GUI auctions is that they do the same thing as the player market, but with more exposure. Effectively making the player market obsolete. There's no good form of auctions that works on ECC. I personally think auctions should just be removed altogether. They add absolutely nothing to ECC.
