If we're going robotic, why not.

 

Well, I could see this happening for Resident but for mayor and above there are towns involved. I think making a program to make the towns would be too much of a pain. Besides what's wrong with the system we have now?

 

As far as I know, there wouldn't be a way to tie that in with our forums, and in my opinion creating a forum account is one of the most important parts of a resident application. So I don't like that aspect of it. As for Tycoon, Ecoleader, Ecolegend, and Ecomaster applications, I don't think there are enough applications for those ranks regularly to justify an automatic system.

tl;dr: We need something to get new players exposed to the forum and applications are the best way to do that.

 

Read the suggestion, he says Mayors and Presidents are to be done alone, and Resident, Tycoon+ will be done by the program.

 

Yes, I did read it tycoon+ still involves the claiming of towns.

 

No... tycoon+ is just a rank, the town claiming comes afterward. He means for the applications for the rank itself.

There are hardly ever any builders/residents posting on threads this will just decrease it. The way most players were introduced to the forums was from their resident app. If it went automatic less players would join the forums until they hit mayor. Even if they got a message saying "please remember to sign up on the forums". If i was a builder i wouldnt sign up, i would have no need to. I would have stayed away from the forums until i hit mayor.

 

No. Just no. And heres why.


First of all, how do you think you get your forum rank? We give it to you. That cannot be tied in with the game, especially if you are suggesting that we don't require them to make a forum account immediately.

Lets consider this. Assuming we implement the system.

User A logs into ECC. He gets enough money for resident and does /rankup resident. The command works. Yay he's a resident. A week or so goes by and he wants mayor. He goes on the forum. Oh look, he doesn't know where a format is or what the forum even is. To top it off, he's a builder on the forum. He goes to apply for mayor and we say 'No.' Because he's a builder according to our forums. He has no paper work.

Oh and you know rule breakers? Yeah... There will be even more of them with /rankup. Why? Well lets consider the current resident application:

We ask these questions for a reason. /rankup won't care. /rankup doesn't make you agree to reading the server rules. /Rankup doesn't force you to tell us how you made the money. You could have scammed it for all we know. Its not like we have paper work to prove what you claimed isn't what actually happened.

So now we have builders on the forums who are actually residents. Residents in game who didn't have to read the rules. And so many other issues.

Automatic donations is NOT the same thing as automatic ranks. There is no human logic required in making a purchase. There is nothing more than what you want and paying for it. The ranks on the other hand are significantly more time consuming and require human logic. So... No.

 

So... should we lock this thread?
