    Suggestion:
Basically my post on Nicit's thread.

So @clou44 made this a while back (a reference to the old market for people who need a refresher).

What I think would be ideal, like I said earlier, would be to remove the under ground shops, so we had less total shops in the market. Those were basically never used, and just took up space. Be eliminating them, we'd be removing more empty shops.

Also, another edit I think would be good would be a slight size increase to shops 72, 67, 19, and 24. Those are the second row of smallest prime shops on each side. Because they're the same size as those significantly close, I think it would be wise to make them somewhat closer in value by giving those shops more sign space.

What I didn't include there is that we could do the spaced out portal thing that we do with the invisible portals currently. Also, it shouldn't be made entirely of stone slabs.. I don't mind the brick design to be honest, but I hate the current layout (and the foliage, it makes no sense [sorry Thomas ._.])

    Reason:
The old market was better for prime and non-prime shops. Let's re-vitalize player trading - afterall, that's what makes this server unique.

    Other Information:
We could have a design competition as long as the layout is provided. For example, Andrew uploads a file containing the all slab version, and we make edits to make it look nicer (changing the materials, adding details, etc).

+1 We don't need excess supply of market stations. All this is doing is hurting the value of market stations that are already here and minimizing competition, which the market should be based on competition.

We currently have way too many market stations. I think all we need is 48 (1/2 of what we currently have). Half the spawnshops are either unoccupied, or horribly stocked. An increase of rent to 10k/week would be cool as well. Would cause users who don't make much cash from their spawnshops to quit and open up their spot to another user.

+1 I would love to see this. Also, maybe a contest or something could be held to decide how the area would be made (materials and such) and decorations.

    Ome question:

If you remove the bottom shops, what happens to the users's shops who would be there? Just cutting them out and reducing to 48 wouldn't necessarily be fair...

Plus, there's in the neighborhood of 70 shops rented at the moment. Just keep that in mind.

Not all the bottom shops, just the ones directly under the primes. There was a spiral staircase to those, and they were never used by anyone other than @generaljoecool

That was about 16 shops if I remember correctly. So that would leave 80 total. I personally think 48 is too low, but I'm definitely in favor of chopping the total in bits and pieces.

    OH GOD NO -1.
I barely manage to hoard a not stocked spawnshop which bring no money, this will ruin my balance.

    Few thoughts..

We currently have 69 stations rented out. With just 22 on that diagram, we would still need quite a few underground to even get that up to around 40-50.

My biggest concern though is with that layout and the reason why we changed to the current layout - The lag that that layout caused. If anything, your suggestion will only create a worse situation. The shops you would be removing wouldn't reduce it because, as you said, they weren't used, and you are suggesting to increase the size of 72/67/19/24 - more space = more signs = more lag.

For the record, I 110% agree that something needs to be done about the market. I just don't think that it is as simple as reverting to the old one.

What about maybe having a design contest for a new market, that has around 50 or 60 shops in it

Lag is the exact reason the market was changed to its current layout in the first place. I feel like it would be a step backwards to revert back to this design. -1, even though I do think that we have too many spawnshops, and it's hurting their value.

That diagram is just the primes. Couldn't find one with the undergrounds.

So basically, the market would be divided into 6 sections, each one independent of the others lag.

    1. Blue Prime
    2. Red Prime
    3. Blue underground left
    4. Blue underground right
    5. Red underground left
    6. Red underground right

I can't say for sure, but I think there would be little to no lag at all if it's divided this was with invisible portals.

I like this suggestion for sure, but I do agree with others that simply bringing back the old market wouldn't be the best idea... a few changes would have to be made. What if we had a design like this:
-We have three markets, red, yellow, and blue.
-Each market has an upstairs of eight prime shops, and a downstairs of 17 shops, for a grand total of 75 shops.
-You can access the downstairs via a spiral staircase right out of the spawn portal, or another one at the prime shop area.
I sketched out my idea below.

While I'm at it, if we do get a new market, may I suggest a renumbering of the shops? I know this has been suggested before, but we really need that :/

TL,DR: +1, but I think we need a few changes.

Chargers has a good start at it, but the problem is that we need a way to make it 1 shop per chunk.
Someone artsy/designy come up with that, and I will be quite interested.

PS. andrew's god of a computer dropped fps while in market. so yeah, it's a problem.

I'm in the process of making a new design. Would you like to have the same number of spawnshops there currently are, or a few less? IMO there are too many shops in the current spawn shop area.

Attempting to create Charger's design at a scale of 3:1 with more spacing between certain shops.

    @JamieSinn anything specific you'd like added/changed?

I want each shop to be within its own chunk.

Hmm, I think I have an idea on how this could work... hope I don't make it too confusing xP

On the upper level, make the warpzones on top a bit longer, so that the corners of a couple of the shops aren't touching. This way, the prime areas will be a bit further away from each other.

As for the downstairs, make it so that it's not directly under the prime level. The staircases at spawn lead down to warpzones to each of the underground areas, which are further away. The staircases at the back of each prime level lead to the entrance of their respective downstairs areas.
