Very simple suggestion. When you enter a build competition, you get a plot that goes down to bedrock and up to the sky, but if you want to use the whole space, you have to mine 30x30 all the way down to bedrock. It's a build competition, not a mining competition, and it causes two problems: 1. It unfairly advantages wealthy players with eff7's, who can do it quicker. 2. It probably makes people give up and quit. SUGGESTION: As part of the build comp app, allow a player to choose whether they want their plot excavated in advance, or whether they want it left full.
+1, I would not have the time to mine out the whole plot with an eff5, as I do not own an eff7 my self.
You can add people to your plot for such services now... at least, I did see it done this time around. **Edit** Or... what about changing the stone the plots are filled with to dirt instead? Doesn't take a special tool to get rid of dirt quickly.
I think there ought to be a solution ... while I was more motivated by the "oh, seriously, I have to mine this all out?" part, I do think the point about wealthier players having an unfair advantage is still stronger. I mean, being able to hire someone is also a solution for the wealthy. Shouldn't something like winning a build competition be equally accessible to new players, or should we at least even the playing field a bit? It seems like a relatively simple thing to do, although I've been wrong about things like that before.
I get where you are coming from here @Jmichael. But wouldn't you say that an Ecoleader may be able to afford more building supplies than a Builder? Mining out the 30x30 is just a part of what it takes to be able to compete in a build competition. I myself have never even done this or possess the Eff 7 required xD however. There is no point having a cleared 30x30 plot to bedrock but only having 5 blocks of dirt is my point. +/-1
I like this idea and wouldn't mind putting forth the work as an "on-request" type of thing. I'll discuss it with andrew as well as our event planners.
