I agree with you on this, however, it is my hope that the new players will actually read the builder guide and gathering evidence wiki entries. This will go a long way to explaining how the server works and hopefully help new players from being scammed.

 

Clicking a few buttons to sign up for a forum doesn't qualify for a bonus. Hard work and dedication do, something clicking a few buttons doesn't prove.

 

Please read what I said.. It seems like the solution to what people are saying...

Ive seen people saying give them 1k or something. All these players need to do is Vote and bam they have a little money in their pocket.

 

I disagree with this suggestion.
I believe doing this will act as a disservice. I do not believe giving builders free money will encourage them to stay around on the server. Until you work to obtain the money, you don't understand the true value of money. This applies on Ecocitycraft and in real life. You could give every builder on the server 50k and most of them still wouldn't stay. Giving out free items or money isn't why someone will choose to stay on the server. Everyone has their own reason for staying around or leaving ECC. For me, when I first joined I wanted a server I could play long term on. The challenge of working your way up from nothing was part of the fun. Having an interesting server with a good community is a much better way to encourage new players to keep playing on ECC.

 

How about don't tell builders that you'll get money when registering?
And only reward them when they registered, without telling them that there is a reward at the first place.
To prove their curiosity by at least searching for the link on the game (but don't hide it, just put a link there normally) to know the link to the website.

 

My opinion has always been the sooner someone joins the forums the better. I feel like someone is more likely to stick around a community the more they feel a part of it, and this will only be helped by joining a relatively active forum.

Most players only register on the forums when they apply for resident. If we can get people registering on the first day they join to get some sort of welcome bonus, then I think they are more likely to stick around. They will have made another connection to the server/community.

 

Again, that wouldn't do anything to benefit the builders as they would still be getting a free $5,000 which is ultimately giving them free money again, for clicking a few buttons.

 

As I said in my earlier post, 5k is too much but free 1k for every builder who registered the forums probably won't destroy the economy, I guess.

 

This is supposed to be a "hardcore eonomy server", I dont want free money, if I had joined and gotten 5k for registering and 1.5k for voting thats halfway to resident in 30 minutes. I probably would have just left the server.

 

Plus one. More users in the server means a bigger market. The server could use a kick start by keeping new users around

Exactly! The bonus doesn't even have to be much either. It can be 1k, 2k, 5k, or anything that can help. The point is that it gives them a reason to join the forums early.

I fully agree with Dewsy. Builders are more likely to stick around after joining the forums. And this suggestion gives them more incentive to join. Odds are that they'll put the money to good use with either the purchase of a max tool, or they will save it for Resident.
