Suggestion:
Allow users to place cactus blocks but implement a piece of code that prevents them from growing.
Reason:
I like the aesthetics of cactus, it is a great block to be able to access in builds. It is currently prohibited as a result of the lag it induces when attempting to grow - as well as the auto-farming capabilities - therefore, removing the chance to grow would strike a preferable alternative to no cacti.

If this it not a lot of work for Jamie, I would +1, however this sounds like you would need to actually edit the actual code of MC (but I'm not MC code expert) if this is true, then -1 I would think it too much work.

But couldn't you still place them ontop of eachother and then autofarm with them?

How does this make any sense... if it can be edited to not grow, then placing on top of another still wouldn't grow it...? What would be the point of farming what you place? Your question doesn't make much sense to me, and hopefully this helped with it
