Minecraft Name: TBM_Striker Suggestion: I am suggesting that a Chancellor rank is added within towns. In essence this rank has all the Towny perms the Owner/Mayor has but will not allow the Chancellor to promote or demote players to and from the Mayor/Owner rank. In addition only the Owner/Mayor will have the right to give/remove Chancellor perms within a town. Reason: This allows owners of towns to have people who are clearly second in command. The rank doesnt effect any rights outside the town, meaning towns that are solely for farming etc can have these Chancellors policing perms for the farm without leading to confusion of who owns the town. in addition, it allows gives the original owner satisfaction in knowing no matter who he allows to run his town, it wont ever get mis-sold, avoiding any hassle with retrieving towns sold in this manner. Other Information: It will require personal development from ECC's great team of developers. Link to this plugin: N/A
sorry, which ever town plugin is currently inuse. I know it is possible to do with co-owners but i was thinking the extra rank would make a more distinguishable and allow for people who own multiple towns to allow towns to flourish individually whilst still evidently being the owner of the towns. co-owners suggests that both people are of equal importance and rights and in a lot of towns this isnt the case
Sounds complicated for no good reason. Although it sounds cool, in reality it's just another rank people need to know. It's very complicated for a new player. The current ranking system is pretty much linear, it's simple and easy to understand. Making it non-linear would just make it difficult for people. EDIT: I was wrong. See tanstaafl's post below.
I may be wrong and may not understand due to the way this was suggested, however, the concept behind this suggestion is very sound. Using terms here on ECC it would be awesome if World Guard would add Mayor (as an example or co-owner) in addition to the Owner and Member Titles. Owners would be the person that is listed as the legal owner per ECC Rules. The Mayor (or co-owner) would be someone who would not have the right to remove the owner, but could add and remove or members. The only slight change would have to be some clarification regarding ownership for the town claim system that both the Owner and Mayors (or co-owners) would need to be inactive. I hope my interpretation is correct and that this suggestion would be carefully considered.
Yo dudes, this suggestion is really amazing. Y'all just don't understand it I think. You know how a Resident cannot use "addowner" or "removeowner"? Well, this is like that. If you have a person(s) that you want to help run your town, but you don't want them to be able to add or remove owners, you give them this position. It would be like this: Members: have build/destroy rights in the town. Cannot add others to town. Chancellors: Member abilities + can add/remove members of the town. Owners: Chacellor abilities + can add/remove owners of the town. It is not a new "rank", but a new position within the town hierarchy.
thankyou tan! thats exactly what i was trying to get at! im just really bad with words >.> haha, you've pretty much summed my post up in 1 reply and made it so much clearer!
I re-read yours and yes, you're right. It was confusing because you called the position 'mayor' when the person might not be that actual rank.
You are perfectly correct - my terminology was terrible and your post cleared it up - now if we can just get the devs to do this
I think this could work, but the term "chancellor" emasculates the title of "mayor". How about a more definitive term like "landlord" in lieu of "chancellor"?
+77 I like this idea, it would also keep the co-mayors from removing the owners of the town.....been scammed of a town by that.
