I like that section. If you don't then gtfo that section of the forums. You don't have to scroll through it. Just keep swimming.

 

To be honest if this were deleted users would just go and spam posts somewhere else. What this does it limit the amount of spam in other sections of the forums, those sections that actually matter.

 

I can't agree with this thread more than I already do. The only people I've seen disagree with it are the ones that have it count towards their forum trophy points. I think that the game itself should probably continue, as it's not hurting anything.

But I don't think that section of the forums should be contributed to total points, ratings, or anything else that carries over.

 

I remember I posted a bunch in those forum game threads, then one day I don't remember exactly what happened, but I lost all those posts counted towards my post amount, so did other users that posted in these sections.. I honestly thoughts they stopped posts from counting? I'm way behind lmao apparently.

The point of forum posts/trophies/ratings are meant to be used to encourage user forum activity, it isn't supposed to be taken competitively, as in "I have more posts then you". I say that, though I totally agree with it filling up the "What's new" option to browse the forums. The games were fun when we were a smaller server, with a way smaller player bass, but now forum posts / ratings apparently have became a competitive meta-game to E.C.C lmao, which completely eliminates this "meta-game" if you allow forum games to count towards forum posts, because they're not well put together posts, usually. Before it encouraged forum usage, now it's just "cheating" in this so called "meta-game" to have the most forum posts / ratings.

This isn't really a direct response to the suggestion lol, I just explained what's on my mind, I don't know if they should be removed/kept, if anything removed because they seemed to be used only for post/rating boostings.

I play forum games occasionally, and I get the idea that the forum games aren't really there for people just trying to post as much as possible, they're there because people find them fun. Sure, some people do play them for more posts, but who cares?

Lots of posts don't get you anywhere. They don't earn you any Ecodollars or win you any prizes. It's like having "likes" on facebook. Sure, some people do like to play it as a bit of a game, being a bit competitive, and sure, I like doing that as well.

I could understand/agree with not letting the forum games section not count toward total posts, but angrily deleting it and turning it into a pile of ashes doesn't seem the right way to go.

Or you could always just go with what donkey said :p

That is not a valid reason to dislike them. That's the same thing as responding "because i don't" when your parents ask you why you dislike spinach

Auto means automatic. Unless someone is using a bot to make forum posts, then it's not automatic. You still need to wait 30 seconds between posts and some of them require a bit of thinking, such as the rhyming game or the country name game.

Then don't dig through the "what's new" subforum, or stop using tapatalk. They do serve a purpose. You see on the right side of the website home page. It shows statistics about threads/comments? That'a a lot of things. It makes the server look popular and professional. How many of those are forum game? I would say around a quarter, if not more.

If you want anyone to take your post seriously, don't go and insult anyone. Just a tip.

In conclusion, your reasons are transparent, and have simple solutions. Either you're jealous or you don't like donkey and I, because you have no reason to hate it. I believe that both @donkey5k and @Jason1964 would agree with me. You have three options.
1-ignore it
2-whine about it
3-deal with it

Because something is annoying to you it doesn't mean others find it annoying. My response is just don't respond and hope others do the same and the fad will die off.

 

I would personally just take forum post count off of those forums,
Im sure if people enjoy posting on them, then they will continue to post on them even if they dont add to your post count...

 

I don't understand how posting "1...2.... 450...." until a mod inevitably posts is fun.

 

It is extremely annoying to browse the newest posts and see 75% are worthless counting games.

I am not sure if it is possible or not, but I will discuss with the other administrators if there is a way to make that section not count towards post count.

 

Post count isn't that big of a deal, the spamming of the forums is. I browse the forums with Tapatalk and when I look at 'All' posts, it is absolutely spammed with forum games. I just want to be able to browse the latest/newest posts without it being 75% forum games.

 

We made it illegal to have posts where you just ask for ratings. I don't see how this is any different.
