Minecraft Name: huntmeister97 Suggestion: I am suggesting we ban deny appeals to users who constantly ask for their appeals to be looked at via shoutbox. Reason: I feel it is against the rules to ask and really it just fills the shoutbox and I see staff warn users all the time but have never seen a consequence other than making the appeal process longer. Which hasn't seemed to work since the same users are repeating the same thing multiple times Other Information: n/a Link to this plugin/Is this a custom addition?: n/a
+1 Although we should make it universal for the actual ban appeal itself. If you ask for your appeal to be looked at in the shout box, or you bump your appeal, you get 1 warning. If you do that again, it is automatically denied. This way, you can't ask in shout box and bump your appeal without any consequences
It is true that this is one of the biggest annoyances - especially for those of us that follow the rules. It seems so simple to me - A verbal warning to let the player know that discussing bans in shoutbox, forum, or chat is not acceptable. The second time they would be given an "official" warning. Third time - one day (or at least 4 hours temp ban! If they still don't get it, then just keep increasing the punishment until they do. Seem harsh? Yes it is - however, I believe that there are many of us (staff included) that are just plain sick and tired of seeing the same players monopolize the shoutbox, forums and chat with this useless dribble. This seems so simple - Tired of waiting for a ban appeal? Stop getting banned!
Well, with their ban appeal they do have a second chance. And by pestering the shoutbox they would deny themselves this opportunity. I say +92 to this suggestion!
@stig4532 most of the time these users are banned more than once and want to come back. And I am almost certain it says not to ask staff to look at your appeal. If they cant simply follow that how can our community have faith that they have learned their lesson and the rules
+1, the fact that they spam the forums if anything showes that they aren't ready to come back on the server without breaking the rules
What defines constantly? How much is too much? What's "enough"? Just ban them from the shoutbox or forum ban them for a week. That'll do the trick.
I agree here. Really, it isnt hard to ignore messages in the shoutbox, but if action is to be taken, you ban them from the forums for a week like United said.
I do think that one week is far too harsh, which is why I suggested a very consistent method - first time - verbal warning from staff - second time - Official warning that ban is imminent - third time - one day (or even four hours) temp ban. Remember that many of these players that we see constantly bumping are 10 year old and simply need to learn some discipline - one week would be unfair in my mind (unless they just keep working up to that).
Well, I do agree, in many instances one week can be too harsh. However, you must look at the players on a case-by-case basis also. If they're a veteran member and have been banned before AND are still constantly bumping their appeal, give em a week. However, if it's a new and/or younger player who's doing this, I think staff warnings would be helpful, and possibly give them a day if they continue. We should be giving different punishments to different players. It's too often that punishments are too harsh for newer players and too easy for older ones.
Unless we get people to declare their ages it's hard to tell how old people are. We have people who act like children, for sure, but they may be adults for all I know.
Even though forum age dates can lie, they can be useful. Not to mention we can roughly estimate someones age by the way they behave. Also, I never just said age. We can easily see their forum join date also.
As long as there is consequences for said actions I am ok. But something needs to be done as these users surely cant understand the rules if they can't follow a single simple task
@UnitedStates2002 Really If you ask once there should be consequence. But it seems to tend to be the players who get banned multiple times and have to keep appealing that end up asking via shoutbox
I... actually agree. With shoutbox bans, anyway. Seems logical, they do something the community doesn't like in the shoutbox, we make it against the shoutbox rules, and ban them from the shoutbox if they do it again after a warning. I don't like the idea of just denying their appeal though. Sure, people should be patient, but setting the entire process back doesn't really accomplish anything. They'll just reappeal and be more annoyed, if anything.
