    • Minecraft Name:
      • Expipiplusone
    • Suggestion:
      • Differentiate SG into easy, medium, difficult arenas
        • easy ones would pay half of what medium pays, difficult ones would pay twice
    • Reason:
      • There's a long-standing debate about kits and how they ruined SG: many changes have been suggested, none has been approved. One of those was a good one imho, but the thread went inactive after an inconclusive discussion. What I'm suggesting here is different and doesn't address kits. And I don't think that kits are the sole problem in SG. Bear with me please.
      • SG lacks an element of progression, which is instead present in, say, mining: you start with stone tools, get a few ores; you build enough wealth to afford a diamond pick, so you get more ores and faster; you build even more wealth and you can afford an enchanted pick; and so on, till the eff7. In farming there's progression as well (bare hands, pumpkin axe, melon sword). SG completely lacks this: if you're a long-standing player (you have either skill or kits, or both, doesn't matter), you can make loads of money; but if you're a beginner, you just die and haven't the slightest chance to earn anything. You just haven't. This, regardless of whether you're a beginner because you lack skills, or because you don't have kits. I'll just say "beginner", vs "seasoned", as synthetic omni-comprehensive labels.
      • Again: I'm not saying to make kit-free arenas. I'm saying to make easy, low-pay arenas, and difficult, high-pay arenas (possibly with a medium one in between), regardless of kits. This way:
        • Beginners will be attracted to easy arenas, knowing that they have at least a chance there;
        • Seasoned players will be attracted to difficult arenas, knowing that they would earn more;
        • Seasoned players would still be free to go to easy arenas and use kits but, knowing that they would earn less there, they will just rather go to the difficult ones (if they deem themselves good enough);
        • Players will just freely chose their preferred arenas, according to their seasoned-ness;
        • Beginners will have the opportunity to grow, starting in an environment compatible to their means, and slowly building up enough experience/wealth-with-which-to-buy-kits to attempt more difficult arenas;
        • Everyone will have the opportunity to fight a challenge at their level, making the game more fun, fair and balanced;
        • If adequately advertised, this would attract to SG also the players that currently avoid it like the plague (like me), and this would benefit in the end even those that currently would be short-sightedly against this suggestion (I'm referring to those who are against it just because they want an easy game against beginners to kill easily - if you have a real reason, please comment!).

    How would the arenas differentiate from each other per their "difficulty level"?

    What would the differences between the arenas be besides the pay?

    I'm tagging some people that might find this useful:
    @Ellie27 @xXNetherXx @knears2000 @SuburbSomeone @FuryFudge

    You just call them as such, and state extremely clearly that they pay very differently. Well, they could also be different arenas (there are arenas that facilitate more the use of skill and/or kits compared to others that are more balanced).
    But my main point is this: seasoned players that think they would have a chance in high-tier arenas won't bother to waste their time in low-tier ones, and beginners won't waste their time in high-tier arenas as well. In the end, it will just be a self-balanced equilibrium.

    The problem I'm seeing is someone with kits going for an easier arena because he'll have an easier time killing people than in the "difficult" arena. People don't just play for money. Some people just play because they absolutely love 1-hit killing new players.
    I feel like there should be limitations to kits in the easier arenas, with less limitations when you go up.

    Say.. no buffer and spy in the easiest arena. That should solve a whole lot of problems, really.

    Would it be, for example as follows:

    Easy
    - No kits
    - $50 per kill

    Medium
    - No kits costing more than $15
    - No more than a combination of two kits
    - $100 per kill

    Hard
    - All kits
    - $150 per kill

    If that's what you're basing it on, then I'd gladly support this suggestion.

    @kukelekuuk00 and @knears2000: I would totally like to implement what you suggest, you know. But let's be honest: every time something like this has been proposed, it has been turned down by all the bunch of whiny easy-winners that "but i payed may monee forkitz!!1!". There's no chance to win an argument with someone who's only able to wimper (ok, there's a fraction of kitters who likes good sport and challenges, but it is, well, a fraction). That's why I tried my best to keep kits out the immediate changes. This is the best compromise I could find, that doesn't address kits immediately, but nonetheless makes the game more fair. Would you -1 this just because you want more? I think that would be nonsensical

    This is a good idea, except maybe a little bit more money. What you are suggesting is to have no kits on the "Easy" level, well I suggest increasing the money on the easy level to $150. It will still fair to new players, and "seasoned" SG players can't use kits. A lot of the "seasoned" SG players are horrible without kits (generally), and would not want no kits all of the time. Just a suggestion, let me know what you think.

    @FuryFudge: as I said to kuke and knears, I would love just no-kits-arenas (it's the very suggestion I linked to in the thread!), but every time a suggestion has been made to address the kits, it has been turned down. I'd rather keep this discussion free of the kits debate, but at least have a chance to see the suggestion implemented

    Agreed. I find no-kit games a lot more enjoyable and a lot more skill is involved in them.

    This argument assumes that people with lots of kits would go to high pay arenas. They wouldnt. It would just be op buffer people running around 1 shotting people in lesser pay arenas instead of op buffer people running around 1 shotting people in normal arenas.

    What I hope is that no-kit games will naturally emerge in low-pay arenas, without forcing it.
    Your reasoning assumes that everybody with kits would go to low-pay arenas because it would be easier, but then - if all kit players go there - then it would be no easier anymore (which would be the objection): but then why would kitters go there, if there's high-pay same-difficulty arenas? It doesn't make sense.
    Yes, there will still be a fraction of easy players that go to low-pay arenas, but it would be a fraction: the really good players will go to the high-pay arenas, because it's more challenging, fun and profitable. And therefore the low-pay arena will be sensibly easier.

    Everyone will just go to the area's where other people are there isnt enough people most of the time to run 1 sg let alone two. I used low pay as an example they would all go to the same arena

    How will it be more challenging? It is legit the exact same just pays more money.

    This honestly, although I question the administrations willingness to implement something like that as they have denied suggestions that suggest "Kit-Free" SG arenas.

    Just having arena's based on "difficulty" won't do anything except create confusion.

    To clarify, there will be two, conflicting, attractivenesses: profitableness and ease. Some seasoned players will be attracted to ease once in a while, but most of them will rather go to profitableness (look at the discussions on kits: in the end, that was the real reason why those suggestions were turned down). Therefore, if most of seasoned players will go to high-pay arenas, low-pay arenas will be automatically easier.
    Now there's not enough people playing SG because a lot of people are sick of what SG is right now. I refuse to join SG right now, because it would be stupid of me. If I were given the option to play in an easier environment, I would try.
    But let's assume the worse, let's assume that it just happens what you say: then what? How would that be worse than what we have now? I mean, are you arguing that this suggestion would worsen the situation? How?

    Kitters will just go for the low pay arenas because they can get more kills more quickly. Kits are by nature, meant to give the users whom have them, an upper hand against non-kitters. Put a ton of kitters in an areans and they'll struggle to consistently make money as they have before, and they'll move onto the easier levels to kill more non-kitters.

    That's why knears said no-kits on the "easy" arena. This would solve this problem.

    Ok, then let's change this:
    Into this:
    Would the difference in pay be enough to discourage kitters, then? I mean, even assuming that killing a non-kitter is 5 times as easy than killing a kitter, the greater ease would not be enough to make the low-pay attractive enough.

    I really suggest making 2 difficulties of arenas. 1 without buffer and spy, and 1 with buffer and spy. It doesn't even need to be no-kit.

    The buffer and spy one should make what SG does now, and the no buffer and spy one should make half of that.

    The biggest problem with kits are buffer and spy, they allow kitters to 1-hit kill almost everyone. Except the users who have good armour.

    I sincerely believe just this tiny change will revitalize SG.
