Minecraft Name: Dccciz Suggestion: Completely remove the forum games section, or don't count the posts that are made towards user's message total. Reason: People have thousands and thousands of posts for counting numbers. High amounts of posts should show dedication to the forums, not dedication to spamming numbers all day. Any Other Information: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/forum-games.109465/ (Do Not Necro) Link To This Plugin: Xenforo? Tagging @gamer_that_is_vintage because this suggestion is essentially his, and because he knows tons about xenforo.
Post counts in forum sections can be easily disabled. Admin CP > Application > Display Node Tree > *Click forum* > Forum Option > Un check this option:
So if they're just for fun, why do they need to count? They don't have any practical use, and make people seem more devoted and trustworthy on the forums, when in reality, all they do is post numbers.
Let me say it again, forum posts should not measure your devotion. Ratings are made for that. And... yes i do that but i consider it fun, and just to push the games forward. You are not forced to play. Nothing harmful done. If anything. Look, there is your forum game! It is a count it game ey? [EDIT] Also i don't even do it to rack posts, since i give 0 things about my posts number.
I generally agree. While I think the section should stay, posts there shouldn't count. The post number is one of the indicators of an active player and should not be farmable so easily.
I personally just don't like all the "count to" games. In order for a post ti count as a post, it should contain at least one complete thought, therefore eliminating posts in count to threads and "+1/-1" posts from being considered posts. Actual games, games that actually require thought, dont need to be removed.
I did that to agree to the suggestion but to be a bit of a troll in relation to steve's post above mine.. but then your timing.. omg perfection
Personally, I agree with you. At the moment you can't really consider the post count of a user as a numerical value for one's dedication. But at the same time, you could ask yourself why do you need to know this information? A post count is suppose to display how many posts you have, not how many genuine posts you have.
I personally don't see a big deal either way, Its not like theres a "reward" for many forum posts. Its something thats just kinda there without any use, and these counting games really dont hurt any aspect of the forums or the server itself. They don't affect anyone negatively, or positively. Thus making it not really matter any way you look at it
